New Clinical Team Leader

Reports To: Department Manager

Job Summary: This position is responsible for day-to-day supervision of nurses or other clinicians and allied health staff within specific clinical protocols.

Primary Job Responsibilities: (Select and/or modify these job responsibilities for your position)

1. Participates in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of assigned staff.

2. Provides professional and technical support to staff and troubleshoots the delivery of patient care.

3. Recommends new and/or revised policies and procedures to the department manager.

4. Promoting a work environment conducive to harmonious work relationships and high staff morale.

5. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of training, orientation, and education programs.

6. Identifies training needs for staff and facilitates staff development.

7. Updates practice manuals relating to nursing and clinical services.

8. Schedules staffing to meet changing workload needs.

9. Ensures all patient contacts are timely documented and treatment plans implemented with evidence-based practice.

10. Responds to requests from ombudsman, families, and other concerned patients regarding patient care issues.

11. Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates quality assurance activities, ensuring compliance with standards, laws, regulations, and procedures.

12. Reviews and uses clinical and medical records to determine health care patterns and assignment of appropriate resources. Ensures corrective actions.

13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's degree in clinical field, e.g., BSN.

Experience: Minimum five years of experience in increasingly responsible clinical positions including some supervision of clinicians experience.

Other Requirements:

· Current RN or other clinical license as required.

· Current CPR certificate.

1. Knowledge of clinical and theoretical nursing/clinical processes and principles. Familiar with state and federal laws related to health care.

2. Knowledge of human resources and team development management principles.

3. Knowledge of medical terminology, practice protocols and standards.

Skills:

1. Skill in applying quality assurance techniques.

2. Skill in training current and new staff members.

3. Skill in planning, organizing, and prioritizing work.

4. Skill in documentation of patient care including reviewing for accuracy and completeness.

Abilities:

1. Ability to communicate clearly with many different levels of staff.

2. Ability to lead, motivate, and develop people.

3. Ability to make sound clinical judgements decisions and weigh risks.

4. Ability to analyze medical records and documentation and identify problem areas.

4. Ability to collaborate effectively with nursing and other clinical managers, physicians, and administrative staff.

5. Ability to competently use Microsoft Office, including Word and PowerPoint, Excel, and appropriate practice management software.

Equipment Operated: Standard clinical and office equipment.

Work Environment: Combination of medical office and exam rooms. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, and other conditions common in clinic settings.
