Decimal Authentic Assessment - Part 1
In order to demonstrate my understanding of decimals, I will:
6.NS.3 Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation.
You are in charge of shopping for all of the ingredients to make your favorite meal. You are responsible for finding a good recipe for the meal you have chosen along with how many servings each recipe will make. Once you have the list of ingredients for each recipe, you will need to determine a variety of costs. You will also answer a series of questions based on these costs. These answers are your claims. Your claims must be backed up by the evidence of showing accurate calculations.
To complete this project you must follow all of the given steps.
Decide what you want to make for your meal. Go to http://www.allrecipes.com to find a recipe for your meal along with the number of servings each recipe will make. Your recipe must include at least six different ingredients.
Create a table for your recipe that lists all of the ingredients, the amount of each ingredient, and the cost of each ingredient. You also need to make sure that the name of the dish and the cooking directions are given.
Go to http://www.peapod.com to start shopping. Find the cost of each ingredient needed for your recipe and enter them into the tables.
Complete the worksheets giving the following information...
• the total cost of your meal,
• the cost per serving for your meal,
• the total cost of your meal for 2 people,
• the total cost of your meal for 5 people, and
• the total cost of your meal for a party of 25 people.
At the end of the project, you must submit the completed tables, the completed worksheets, and the papers that show all of the work that supports your claims. This work must be done neatly and accurately in order to earn full points.
