Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) Fall Workshops 2017
The Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) offers free training workshops throughout the state. Workshops are hands-on in a computer lab. The workshops listed here are geared primarily for school personnel. If you have not attended an MCIS workshop in the past couple of years, it is highly recommended you do so. There are many new and exciting enhancements that have been added to the system.Please note that the different workshops offered are listed under the appropriate type of workshop. MCIS JR. – Middle Level Career Information System (Half Day: 12:30-3:30 p.m.)
A version of MCIS designed specifically for junior high/middle school students. MCIS Jr. includes the following components:· Career Cluster Survey – an interest survey based on the 16 Department of Education Career Clusters
· IDEAS Interest Assessment – a standardized interest assessment normed for this age group
· Occupation Content
· Electronic Portfolio
· Activities to help students with career planning

For more experienced users who would like to spend the time exploring the site at their own pace, we will offer an “open-lab workshop.” Participants should come prepared to work on items such as:· Creating course plans – bring an electronic version of an Excel file of your school’s courses.
· Checklists – bring your ideas and we can help get started customizing your checklist.
· Batch creating student accounts – bring an electronic copy of your class lists.
· Learn more about using Clever for single sign-on capabilities.
· Reporting Tools –learn more about reporting functions in MCIS. New PLP reports and using district accounts and reporting functions.
· General navigation – explore the site on your own and ask questions as needed.
· Group discussions – spend time visiting with other attendees to see how other schools are implementing career development. Do some strategic planning.
· Parchment Transcript Services overview will be covered.
