Middle East Pharma Cold Chain Congress

Description / The biopharmaceutical industry is booming and none more so than in MENA. This is also true for the use of vaccines, hormone treatment, antibiotics, human insulin and chemotherapy. What do all these have in common? A small deviation in temperature, PH or humidity can ruin a whole shipment of medicine at best or damage the health of our patients. Here in MENA, we still generally import most of our medicine but even when they land they need redistribution. In our region, the climate can be very cold in Lebanon, Jordan and Morocco, while it can be blisteringly hot in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Egypt. This means that our supply chain must be robust, strong and flexible; governments are quickly catching on which is demonstrated by the SFDA’s ever tightening regulations. This is especially important to the Middle East as most temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals are imported and due to the Middle East experiencing massive air-cargo growth and increased patient population requiring temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals. The Middle East Pharma Cold Chain Congress aims to bring all the stakeholders under one roof to share their needs, wants and ideas and to start developing strategies that will ultimately ensure healthy shipments and safe pharmaceuticals that can be used throughout our region.

8th European Conference on Rare Diseases & Orphan Products

Description / The ECRD is the only event which, from its small beginnings, has united all rare disease stakeholders from all European nations- patients and patient representatives, healthcare professionals and researchers, industry, payers, regulators and policy makers alike- in the fight against rare diseases. Description / During the 2016 FIP Congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists will rise to the challenge to reduce the global disease burden. Are you prepared to take this challenge? Of the top 10 causes of death around the world, nine are diseases. Heart disease, stroke, HIV/AIDS, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, diabetes and diarrheal diseases are among this list. But the burden of disease is not just about the years of life lost due to death; it is also about years lost due to living in less than full health. As a result, there has been an effort to change from a sickness care model to a health model. Our role in improving the outcomes of treatments is the essence of the pharmacy profession and of pharmaceutical scientists. Creating, preparing and providing medicines is based on this role. Moving from a sickness model to a health model means that pharmacy is also now about disease prevention and health promotion.
