Background: Northwest Hardwoods is the premier Hardwood Lumber producer in the industry serving the furniture, cabinet, and molding and millwork segments worldwide. We operate manufacturing facilities throughout the United States. We have an immediate opening, seeking a Safety and Environmental professional for our Oregon region.

Key Functions: Provide leadership, coordination and technical expertise in safety and environmental compliance. This position is responsible for establishing reliable methods for improving safety and environmental performance, ensuring systems are in place for an effective safety and environmental program meeting regulatory requirements and Northwest Hardwoods guidelines for sawmill facilities located at Eugene, Coos Bay, and Garibaldi, OR. Work directly with mill leadership in developing, implementing and managing safety and environmental policies, procedures, and practices. This position reports to the Mill Manager located in Eugene, OR.

Requirements: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong work ethic with ability to plan, prioritize, ensure deadlines are met, knowledge and understanding of safety and environmental regulatory requirements and workers compensation, proficient in computer applications. Knowledge and understanding of saw mill manufacturing processes and associated hazards. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety/Environment or related field preferred. Five plus years of demonstrated and proven successful wood products or related manufacturing experience in the safety and environmental field.
