Albany News

The Albany Club of Livingston Volunteers for Family and Community had a productive meeting and successful February Project. The members collected and donated 86 teddy bears to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office. These bears are used by police officers when a child has to be taken from their home. Sometimes that little bear will soften the situation at hand and the child will feel more at ease. During the meeting, the members also heard from the Albany VFC Family Life Chair, Patti Darby, who gave a presentation on the signs of a heart attack.

Albany VFC members and the Livingston Parish Sheriff Officers show off the cuddly teaddy bears that were donated to the LPSO.

Reminder: Committee Chairs: Please make sure your reports have been submitted to State.

Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana…who are we?

We are mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, foster mothers and female legal guardians who have children serving in the military, guard or reserves, or children who are veterans. We support each other and our children while promoting patriotism. Our organization focuses on our mission every single day and will never, ever, forsake our troops, our veterans or the families of our Fallen Heroes.

This group provides support for active duty service personnel, promotes patriotism, assists Veterans organizations, and are available to assist in homeland volunteer efforts to help our country remain strong. On March 17, during the LVFC Appreciation Luncheon, a collection drive will be held. Please help the Blue Star Moms by donating the following in small sizes:

Lip balm, medicated foot powder, shoe inserts, antibiotic ointment, anti-itch ointment, muscle pain ointment, eye drops, eyeglass wipes, mouthwash, toothpaste, non-aerosol deodorant, shaving cream, feminine hygiene products, disposable razors, body wash/soap, baby wipes (small packs), shampoo, scrubbies, q-tips, hand sanitizer, skin lotion, sunscreen (in a tube), non-aerosol insect repellent, rice krispy treats, fruit roll-ups, energy bars, granola bars, sunflower seeds/nuts, trail mix, popcorn, Cracker Jacks, hot chocolate, powdered drink mixes for individual bottles of water, powdered Gatorade, coffee/tea, coffee creamers, canned fruit (easy open containers), peanut butter (individual serving), canned chicken/tuna, microwaveable foods, BEEF Jerky (NO PORK), Slim Jims, gum/candy, hand warmers, DVDs, small board games, crossword puzzles, small American flags, room fresheners, pencils/pens, and small notepads.
