Lewisburg Middle School Patriot Singers

Dear Parents,

District Choral Festival is next week on Wednesday, February 18, 2014.

All 7th and 8th Grade Choirs will be competing in this year’s festival. Choirs will sing two selections for a panel of judges for a scored evaluation. There is also a sight reading component to the competition. Our choirs have been working very hard, and we sound great!

Typically LMS is given a morning performance time. Every year a few schools have to be scheduled to perform late in the afternoon. This year we are one of those schools. We will miss the buses home on Wednesday afternoon. Here is our schedule for the day.

11:40 a.m. Meet in Mrs. Treadway’s room

11:40-12:10 Change clothes

12:10 p.m. Depart LMS for Catfish Country

12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. Eat at Catfish Country

1:30 p.m. Depart LMS for Hernando UMC

2:12 p.m. Registration

2:24 p.m. Sight Reading

3:00 p.m. Warm Up

3:12 p.m. Performance

4:10 p.m. Depart Hernando UMC for LMS

LUNCH – We will be eating at Catfish County in Hernando. They have graciously opened the restaurant just for us. We will have 81 students. Not many places can accommodate a group that large. Students will have a choice between chicken tenders, cat fish, or hamburger with one side and a drink. Each singer will need to bring $10.00 to cover the cost of lunch, drink, and tip.

CHAPERONES – I need 5 chaperones for this trip. You must have the DeSoto County background check to be a chaperone as you will be riding the bus. The first five parents to respond with the background check will be the chaperones.

Parents are welcome to attend the festival and watch our performance. Parents will sit in the main sanctuary of the church. They will not be able to go in the Warm Up Room or the Sight Reading Room with us. Also, there will be three people in the sanctuary who are judges. They sit in a row together in the middle of the sanctuary. You will be able to tell who they are. Do not sit within two rows of the judges even if you see others doing so. The judges are supposed to have a buffer of space around them so they may speak to each other about the performances undisturbed. The sanctuary should be silent during performances; therefore, small siblings should not attend this festival. Thanks for understanding.

If you attend our performance, you may take your Patriot Singer home with you. If you are not able to attend, the bus will bring them back to LMS for pick up.
