Safety Camp
Level Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. proudly offers a camp designed to educate children on how to prevent accidents, prepare for the unexpected and how to react to emergency situations. Daily hands on lessons, games, crafts and activities will reinforce the knowledge your child already has as well as teach additional valuable life saving lessons.
The camp is FREE of charge and open to children entering kindergarten through the completion of 5th grade. Parents are asked to provide one package of cookies per child to be used for snack. Please bring the cookies on the first day of camp. Special dietary snacks should be sent in a brown paper bag labeled with the child’s name. Level VFC will provide juice and water.
Camp is strictly limited to the first 100 children who pre-register, no exceptions. Please register your child early and only if they can attend all three days. Camp will be held July 9, 10, & 11, 2008 at the Level Volunteer Fire Company from 9:00 to 12:00. Please be on time. The fire house is located at 3633 Level Village Road Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
To celebrate 15 successful years of safety camp we will be holding a Family Fun Day on Friday July 11th from 12:00 – 3:00. Food, Fun, Games, Prizes and much more will be provided for all camp attendees and their immediate family. This celebration will also be free of charge.

Safety Lessons and Presentations
· 9-1-1
Presented by Dispatcher Kim Stritzinger, Harford County Emergency Operations
Children will learn the importance of 9-1-1, when to call, and what information needs to be given
to the call-taker.
· K-9 Demonstration
Presented by DFC Jeremy Mothershed, HCSO
DFC Mothershed and his K-9 partner, Kacey, will show how a law enforcement K-9 searches for drugs, tracks suspects and conducts building searches.
· Fire Safety Magic Show
Presented by Hector the Fire Safety Clown
Hector’s amazing magic show will reinforce the fire safety lessons taught during safety camp. Parents are invited to come and watch the show with their children. Show will be held on Friday at 11:00.
· Fire and Injury Prevention
Presented by Ashtin Jackson, 2007 MSFA Miss Fire Prevention 1st Runner Up
Ashtin and many other Fire & Injury Prevention ambassadors will teach the children fire safety lessons using the “Wheel of Safety”. Topics will include Smoke Alarms, Stop, Drop & Roll, Exit Drills In The Home as well as many others.
· Junior Fire Fighter Olympics
Presented by Level Volunteer Fire Company Inc.
This friendly competition between class mates will teach the children the importance of physical fitness. The children will race through an obstacle course to “rescue a victim”.
· Boater Safety
Presented by Captain Bill Reeder, Susquehanna Hose Co. Dive Team
Warm weather and water can spell disaster if safety precautions are not followed. Captain Reeder and his team members will go over the importance of personal flotation devices, why never to swim alone and general water safety guidelines.
· Otto The Talking Car
Presented by Myra Wieman, AAA
Otto the Talking Car, a remote controlled robotic car, will teach the children the importance of pedestrian safety, bicycle safety and general traffic safety.
· Railroad Safety
Presented by Officer Art Lawson, Amtrak Police Department, Baltimore District
Children will learn the dangers associated with railroad tracks and the importance of staying
clear of the tracks.
· Emergency Preparedness
Presented by Reed Correll Harford County Division of Emergency Operations
Are you ready to put your planning skills to good use? Ready Kids can help you create a plan that will help you get ready for many different kinds of unexpected situations.
· Safety House
Presented by Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire & Emergency Services
Firefighters from APG will teach the children what do in the event of a house fire using this fun, hands on, uniquely crafted educational vehicle.
