JOB DESCRIPTION FOR A CLASSROOM

TEACHER 2018

Glenholme School Board of Trustees will only employ teachers with New Zealand Council Practicing Certificate (or provisional registration in the case of Beginning Teacher).

This position is in the Whakapoungakau Team, in a Year 5/ 6 classes.

Teachers at Glenholme School provide our tamariki with the skills, will (self-efficacy) and thrill (dispositions) to become assessment capable learners

A teacher at Glenholme Schools’ educative purpose is to:

Appointment Criteria

· The employee will show evidence of:

· Successful teaching and learning classroom programmes

· An ability to meet the above requirements

· Demonstrates and understands the influences of things that have the most significant impact on students achievement

· Demonstrates and understands that the fundamental task of a teacher is to evaluate the effect of their teaching on students’ learning and achievement – Know Thy Impact

· Demonstrates the characteristics of an Inspired and Passionate teacher

· Understands the role of feedback and its potential impact on student achievement

· Demonstrates and understands how Visible Learning Mindframes can have a major impact on student achievement

Professional responsibilities and duties in this position include the following:

· To meet the requirements of the Board of Trustees Code of Conduct

· To support the Glenholme School Charter, Strategic Plan and Annual Targets

· To support the Rotorua Central CoL/Kahui Ako Charter, Strategic Plan and Achievement Challenges

· To establish and maintain positive communication with parents and care givers

· To provide an attractive and stimulating classroom environment

· To plan, prepare and implement effective classroom programmes

· To use a range of assessment practices to monitor and assess student learning

· To implement the behaviour management plan in line with the school’s requirements

· To consistently and successfully meet deadlines and documentation requirements

· To use information and communication technology for administrative and teaching and learning programmes

· To contribute to the professional life of the school by taking organisational, sports and curriculum responsibilities as appropriate

· To participate in the Glenholme School Performance Management Programme

· To accept responsibility for on-going professional learning and development

· To work as a supportive team and staff member

· To share personal curriculum strengths and interests

· To build culturally responsive learning-based relationships with student, staff and whanau
