SUMMARY: The Executive Director of the Foundation of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse New York will be a results oriented strategic thinker who will lead institutional growth, is people focused and mission driven. This individual will also have a proven track record in all aspects of fundraising, including annual campaigns, planned giving, major gifts, and all strategic and operational aspects of large campaigns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· In conjunction with the Board of Trustees and members of the Corporation sets the priorities and strategic direction of The Foundation.
· Advises the Bishop of the Diocese on Fund Raising strategy and policy.
· Cultivate new donors while maintaining current donor relations with Foundation donors.
· Engages the Catholic, business and civic communities to understand and recognize the Church’s social, educational and spiritual benefits to the community.
· Responsible for Board of Trustees relations, especially the standing committee chairs, acts as ex-officio member of key committees.
· Manage a comprehensive transmittal and acknowledgment process for all gifts, including donor records and recognition.
· Plan, implement and evaluate the Annual HOPE Appeal campaign of the Diocese to sustain growth.
· Provide data driven analysis for current and future campaigns.
· Manage and lead the planned gifts program including marketing for bequest support, life income agreements, life insurance policies and life estate arrangements.
· Serve as a consultant to all parishes of the Diocese which request advice and counsel concerning stewardship and fund raising.
· Work collaboratively with Development staff in Catholic Schools and Charities.
· Manage the development function by establishing polices, systems and procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have 7-10 years of experience in a nonprofit leadership role. Applicants must have a significant and verifiable track record in major gift fundraising. Experience working with a Board, committees, and volunteers is required. Experience and background with the Catholic Church is required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Applicants also must be able to work at a fast pace, prioritizing work flow, and offering guidance, counsel, and oversight to staff and Board Members when applicable.
