Top 100 Important People Research Essay

For this assignment you will research two leaders in history and write an essay comparing their leadership qualities. You will use the research skills we have started to develop when gathering information, prepare an outline, rough draft, final draft and works cited page for this essay.

1. Please use the following 2 websites to select 2 people to research…

a. you will probably want to explore each website before making your 2 choices

b. you will want to keep in mind that a comparison paper will be written about the 2 people you choose

i. be on the lookout for similar traits, accomplishments, etc.

ii. do not limit yourself to 2 people from the same field/category

i. this website provides one main profile and often shows the other covers of Time that the leader has been featured in. If this is the case, you will want to click on the additional covers and read the cover stories about this person. I found this website to be the better of the two because it has specific information.

b. www.usnews.com/usnews/news/leaders

i. these profiles are quite brief and will require further research about the person and his/her accomplishment(s) on different websites

3. When taking notes:

a. Be sure to record the URL from which you took the information

b. PARAPHRASE the information

c. If you copy information word-for-word, be sure to put in quotation marks

d. Although the questions on the worksheet below provide a focus of leadership traits, please do not limit your notes and research to these questions only

e. Once you have chosen your 2 people and recorded information about each, you will want to begin looking for similarities between the 2
