Install IBM Rational Performance Tester Fix pack 7.0.0.2
Note 1: Ensure that you have internet connectivity while performing this installation as the installation software may access content from the Rational web site.
Note 2: We will now install Fix pack on Rational Performance Tester V7.0 to upgrade it to V7.0.0.2. This is a necessary activity for the other software to work. Ensure that Rational Performance Tester V7.0 is installed prior to proceeding further.
1. Create a folder called Rational Performance Tester 7.0.0.2 in your C drive. Under this folder create a folder called rpt and a sub folder under rpt called updates. Your file structure should look as shown below.
2. Copy the contents of the following CDs into the updates folder.

Your final file structure should look as shown below.
3. Open IBM Installation Manager by selecting Start à Programs à IBM Installation Manager à IBM Installation Manager
The IBM Installation Manager opens.
4. Click on the Install Packages link. You should see a dialog box informing you that a newer version of the Installation Manager has to be downloaded and updated.
Note: This update is required in order to install the other updates. If you do not see this dialog box then there is likely a problem with your internet access. Contact our technical support if you have trouble with this step.
5. Click Yes.
6. The download time depends on your internet speed. With a DSL connection and a 1.5 MB per second download speed it should take less than 5 minutes for the download to complete.
7. Once the update is done, you will be prompted to restart the installation manager. Click OK. The Installation Manager will restart.
8. You should be back at the Installation Manager main screen as shown below.
9. In the Installation Manager, select File à Preferences.
10. Click on the Add Repository button.
11. When asked to specify the location, click on the Browse button. Navigate to the C:\Rational Performance Tester 7.0.0.2\rpt\updates folder and select the repository.config file. Click Open.
12. Back in the Add a repository page, review the Repository location and click OK.
13. You should now see the newly added location as shown below.
14. Remove the checkmark from the Search service repositories during installation and updates check box.
NOTE: the above step is critical! If you do not remove the checkmark then the proper version of the software update (version 7.0.0.2) will not be installed.
15. To validate the new repository, click on the Test Connection button.
16. You should see a dialog informing that the repository is connected. Click OK.
17. Back on the Preferences page, click Apply and then click OK.
18. You should be back at the Installation Manager main screen as shown below.
19. Click on the Update Packages (not Install Packages) button in the Installation Manager.
20. On the Update Packages screen, select the checkbox that says Update All and click Next.
21. Accept the license agreement and press Next.
22. You should now see a screen with the update version. Verify that you see the update for Version 7.0.0.2 only. The version must be exact. Under repository Information, verify that C:\Rational Performance Tester 7.0.0.2\rpt\updates and C:\RPT_Software\disk1 are the only repositories listed.
Note: If web site URL’s are listed under repository locations then the wrong software update will likely occur. It will also take hours longer to install than it needs to. Call our technical support before you proceed if you are having problems with this step.
23. Click Update.
24. Since the Fix pack location was provided locally (C:\Rational Performance Tester 7.0.0.2\rpt\updates) in previous steps the update operation should be fairly fast as the Installation Manager does not have to download those files from the internet. At the bottom of the screen you should see the update status.
Note that the update operation still takes a few minutes.
25. Once the update is completed you should see a success message as shown below. Also note that you see Version 7.0.0.2 listed under the update list. Click Finish.
26. Exit from the IBM Installation Manager as well by selecting File à Exit.
27. Finally, we need to verify that the product was updated successfully. Open IBM Rational Performance Tester by navigating to Start à Programs à IBM Rational Performance Tester à IBM Rational Performance Tester à IBM Rational Performance Tester as shown below.
28. Leave the default workspace and click OK.
29. After the Rational Performance Tester starts up, from the menu, select Help à About Rational Performance Tester. You should see a dialog listing Version 7.0.0.2 as the current version.
30. Click OK.
31. From the menu, select File à Exit to exit out of Rational Performance Tester.
32. Close any other open windows.
Congratulations, you have installed the Fix pack on Rational Performance Tester.
