Job Description: HRA-NCA Chair, Certifications and Scholarships

Reports to VP, Education

Position Overview:

Working at the direction of the VP,Education, manage the certification training program and certification scholarship activities of the Chapter.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop scholarship application evaluation criteria and design appropriate scholarship materials.
  1. Evaluate scholarship applications and recommend recipients to the Board for approval.
  1. Recommend scholarship program changes, i.e., scholarship amounts, number of recipients, etc.
  1. Work closely with the VP, PR & Marketing and VP, Communications to promote certification preparatory courses and scholarship programs.
  1. Chair meetings of the Certifications/Scholarship Committee.
  1. Recruit members to serve on Committee.
  1. Coordinate efforts with VP, Education to best serve the membership.
  1. Serve as liaison between VP, Education and members of the Committee.
  1. Participate in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the Chapter.
  1. Represent the Chapter in the Washington metropolitan HR community.

HR Certification Institute Certification

·  Create/conduct a PHR/SPHR/GPHR Certification exam study group which may include:

o  Co-sponsoring or partnering on a university-based certification preparation study course

o  Taking advantage of the special discount program available to chapters and purchasing copies of the SHRM Learning System (both facilitator and participant versions) for use in a chapter study group

·  Develop and implement a certification awareness campaign which could include tactics such as:

o  Promote the benefits and value of certification (PHR, SPHR, GPHR)

o  Use the HR Certification Institute Toolkit for promoting certification in the chapter

o  Educate members on the recertification process, including using the online recertification system

o  Recognize certified chapter members at a chapter program, or otherwise recognize or reward certified members

o  Promote the online assessment exams and PHR/SPHR/GPHR certification guides developed by the HR Certification Institute
