HOUSTON SOCIETY OF FINANCIAL ANALYSTS

50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

The Houston Society of Financial Analysts was founded in 1955 and became a member of the Financial Analysts Federation in 1957. On January 1, 1990, the Society became a member society of the Association for Investment Management and Research, which is now the CFA Institute.

The society allows people with common interests to advance their professional standing and to obtain an insight to key areas affecting investments. These goals as well as efforts to enhance the investment industry in Houston are achieved through regularly scheduled meetings that include company and educational presentations. In addition the Society sponsors an educational program for Chartered Financial Analyst candidates and provides scholarships to students in the colleges of business at Rice University and University of Houston.

The Houston Society of Financial Analysts has approximately 750 members, most of whom are Chartered Financial Analysts. The members represent the leading investment firms, bank trust departments, insurance companies, brokerage houses, investment bankers, treasury departments of the major corporations in Houston area and the finance and economics departments of local universities.

In the spring of 2005, the Society will celebrate fifty years of success and growth through four gala events.

February

Members and guests will be invited to a panel discussion that will focus on the energy industry. The panelists will be Michael Economides, University of Houston, Tony Petrello, Nabors Industries, Chris Seavers, Hydril and Ray Plank, of Apache. Dan Fisher of Forbes Magazine will be the moderator. The venue chosen for this event is the Alley Theater and the date is February 21st.

March

Our March event will feature presentations from some of Houston’s top financial leaders. Ed Larson of AIM and Henry Lartique of Avalon are two of the presenters. Gene Vaughn will moderate the panel. This will take place at Reliant Stadium on March 31st with tours to follow.

April

In April we will honor the Society’s Past Presidents with an event planned for the Roof across from Minute Maid Field. CFA Institute executive officers and members of the Board of Governors will be participating in the event.

May

The Society’s 2nd Annual Forecast Dinner will be on May 3rd. This event will bring leading investment professionals together in a round table discussion format. One prominent panelist will Abbey Joseph Cohen, Managing Director of Goldman Sachs.

Naturally this celebration will require the efforts of many of the Society’s members and support from the Houston financial community. The Officers and Directors are seeking sponsors to help underwrite the Society’s 50th Anniversary events. All sponsors will be given recognition in the invitations to the events, the event programs and at the event.

The following are the sponsor levels:

Event Sponsor $7,500

Platinum 5,000

Gold Plus 2,500

We hope that your firm will want to be a part of the Houston Society of Financial Analysts 50th Anniversary Celebration by joining at one of the sponsor levels.
