Hospitality and Tourism Career Research Project

Directions: To complete your Career Research Project y ou will choose two careers – one from the hospitality/food industry and the other from the tourism travel industry. For each career you will research the following information:

1. Name of Career

2. Brief description of your career – 3-5 sentences in length

3. Education and Training required for your chosen career (Also include any certifications or licenses required for this career in this section.)

4. List of duties and responsibilities you would have if you worked in this career. (This can be bulleted or numbered.)

5. Working Conditions and Environment (Where would you work? How many days/hours a week would you work? What kind of conditions would you be working in? What would you wear to work in? What kind of equipment would you need?)

6. List of examples of businesses and companies who you could work for. (This can be bulleted or numbered.)

7. Explain how you would move up and advance in this career path. (Show a progression from a starting position that would lead to your desired career to what other jobs you could be promoted to.)

8. Job Outlook – Is the demand for this career growing, staying the same, or shrinking?

9. Explain why you are interested in this career.

10. Describe what knowledge, experience, talents, and personal qualities you possess that would make you successful in this career.

11. Once you have filled out the templates for both jobs, write a paragraph describing which career you feel would better suit you in the future. Explain your opinion in detail.

You will use the templates on my website to record your typed responses. Your responses should show thought and insight into your research, be written in your own words, use proper spelling and grammar, and be written in complete sentences and paragraph format. You must also cite the sources you used to find your information.
