Creativity / Design your own scenario for the erosion – transportation – deposition picture. / Draw a picture of you using a river. This could be a nice memory that you have of using a river, or it could be a way that you regularly use the river. Write a story to go with this. / Visit a local river and create a video diary of what you can see around the river. Make sure you show different features and processes as well as land uses around the river. Make sure you ask your parents first.
Research / Produce a fact file on a river of your choice. Remember to show the features that we would find along the river and the ways of life that we might expect to see along the river. / Choose a famous river/part of a river and think about why tourists might go there. Design a tourist booklet to explain what they might see. (Examples could be Niagara Falls or the Mississippi Delta) / Create a poster/ storyboard of the story of the river. Show what features might be found at the upper, middle and lower parts of the river
Skills / Collect an Ordnance Survey (OS) map of a section of a river. Label the different features that you can see along that river and the ways in which the land is being used around that river. / Produce a world map of different rivers around the world. Annotate the world map; include fact files about the different rivers. / Get your parent’s permission first!! Travel to a river with an orange or ball that will float. Measure out a distance and time how long it takes for the orange or ball to travel that distance. Is it the same if you go further up or down the river? What about a different river? Record your findings.
