Introduction& Welcome

Administration Update (Todd)
- Swanguard went on today with many students competing in Track and Field
- Stream of Dreams of very successful and even the teachers were excited to be able to be involved and paint a fish
- Friday – deadline for parents to submit a request for student placement for next year – it was in the previous newsletter
- A week Friday is the school’s fun day – it will not be a hot lunch day, so kids will need to pack a lunch
Past Events (Marnie)
- Whitecaps – a week ago Sautrday – 150 tickets sold with 17 kids got to do special add on events like goal kicks and high-fiving the players. Brought in $1200 for the HPAC
- Book Fair – Christina Carrick – 4 days of book fairs with about $4400 in total revenue, with a percentage of that going to the library for purchasing books. Christina will most likely continue in this role next year
- Talent Show – Amanda Clarke, Angie and Nikki Brown ran an amazing sold out show which raised almost $1700
Upcoming Events (Marnie)
Highlands BBQ
– 250 meals to families
– special guests will be there including donors, grant providers and donor families
– Amanda Clarke will be running fun sports games throughout the night
– Some cash food sales will be available the night of
Fundraising (Marnie)
– Kmunti – This is an online shopping website that has major online retailers like Amazon, Indigo where all purchases made through this link gives a percentage back to the HPAC. You don’t pay anymore then you normally would.
– Laura Clarke – could add a logo with link to the website and Facebook page
– Jennifer – mentioned looking into Save on Foods to see if they offer some sort of kick back to schools. Tracey & Marnie can look into this for next year

Fiscal Year Results
- Review Budget to date for this year – we are doing pretty good

- Website costs (due to US dollar) & HPAC office supplies costs were a bit more than allocated

$1000 Parent Social Deposit – It was passed by show of hands
Parent Social suggestion
– School District Board Room – they now have catering and you would need your own liquor licences
– Escape room
– Laser tag night
– Stay with DJ/Dancing or more of a pub night at Tap & Barrel
– Private space or with other people
– There are new families joining every year that might want to attend

- Jason is looking to a partner to help him or take over the DPAC role – its about a 5 hour monthly commitment. Attend 1 DPAC meeting per month. Easy to do even if you have a day job.
HPAC Constitution (Ed)
– Jason – BC Gov’t has changed how it has governing Societies, but according to the rules it doesn’t look like HPAC could become a Society. We may have too much money coming in
– Highlands has a way higher yearly operating budget than other schools. Some PACs operate with 5-10k a year.
Revision to Constitution and bylaws
- Ed is going to look at possibly reviewing and/or updating the HPACs current constitution
- Position description change – The Co-Chairs will be in charge of making sure there is a playground maintenance co-ordinator volunteer at the beginning of each year
- Volunteer parents are organizing some Highlands kindergarten playdates throughout the summer so new families and kids can meet people before September. If you know of new Kindergarten families coming in the fall, contact

Staff and Teacher appreciation lunch – the Google Doc sign up link has been sent out
