Should I create a Page or allow people to follow my public updates from my personal account?

If your goal is to represent your business, brand or product on Facebook, create a Page. A Page lets you engage with people on Facebook and offers tools to help you manage and track engagement.

If your goal is to share updates from your personal Timeline with a broader audience, you can allow people to follow you. When you allow people to follow you, anyone on Facebook can follow you to get your public updates in their News Feed, even if you're not friends on Facebook.

You can have an unlimited amount of people following you, and you can follow up to 5,000 people. You can have up to 5,000 friends on your personal account.

Choose Who You Share With

How Privacy Works When You Share

When I post something, how do I choose who can see it?

You'll find an audience selector tool most places you share status updates, photos and other stuff. Click the tool and select who you want to share something with.

The tool remembers the audience you shared with the last time you posted something, and uses the same audience when you share again unless you change it. For example, if you choose Public for a post, your next post will also be Public unless you change the audience when you post. This one tool appears in multiple places, such as your privacy shortcuts and privacy settings. When you make a change to the audience selector tool in one place, the change updates the tool everywhere it appears.

The audience selector also appears alongside things you've already shared, so it's clear who can see each post. After you've shared a post, you have the option to change who it's shared with. If you want to change the audience of a post after you've shared it, click the audience selector and select a new audience.

Remember, when you post to another person's Timeline, that person controls what audience can view the post. Additionally, anyone who gets tagged in a post may see it, along with their friends.

How do I add or change my cover photo? 3.

A cover photo is the larger photo at the top of your profile, right above your profile picture. Like your profile picture, cover photos are public, which means anyone visiting your profile will be able to see them.

To add or change your cover photo:

1. Go to your profile

2. Click Add a Cover, or hover over your current cover photo and click Change Cover

3. Choose whether you want to upload a new photo or pick a photo from one of your existing photo albums

4. Once you choose a photo, you can reposition it by clicking the image and dragging it up or down

5. Click Save

We've found that people have a better experience viewing your profile when they see a cover that is as unique and individualized as you are. This helps people learn more about you. It also helps us prevent spam, fake profiles and other stuff that can detract from your experience on Facebook. An easy way to ensure your cover image is unique is to choose an image from your life, like a photo from a wedding, day at the beach or birthday party. If you want to use a photo to show solidarity or express support for a cause or organization, you can still post a status or photo.

What happens when I click a Like or Share button on external websites?

The Like and Share buttons on other sites let you show your friends when you're interested in something. In order for your action to appear on Facebook, you must be logged into Facebook at the time you click the button.

When you click the Like button, it turns lighter in color. On Facebook, a story will appear on your Timeline and may appear in News Feed, just as if you liked something on Facebook.

When you click the Share button, a window will pop up allowing you to add a comment or adjust your audience before posting. On Facebook, a story will appear on your Timeline and may appear in News Feed after you click Share Link in the window.

In some cases, when you like things off Facebook, like a movie, athlete or business, this connection works in the same way as when you like a Page on Facebook. It'll appear on your Timeline, you may receive messages or updates in your News Feed, and you may be associated with the connection in Pages, ads or social plugins.

You can remove a like or share from your private activity log.

Who can see, like and comment on my ratings and reviews?

Only people in the audience of your rating or review can see, like and comment on it. For example, if you post a review and select Friends as the audience, only your friends will be able to see, like and comment on it.

Note: If you select Public as your audience, the Page you've rated or reviewed will receive a notification.

How do I post and share with a group? 4.

2. Pick a sharing option:
