Minutes of Monthly Meeting

May 19, 2005

At Christian Fellowship Church, Waukegan

Prayer was held 7:30—8:15 a.m.

The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. by President Pro-Tem George Jones

attendance: Bruce Wilson & Casey Clark (Christian Fellowship Church), Juan Romero (Pacto con Cristo) George Jones (Waukegan Foursquare Church), Johnnie Jenkins & Roger Handyside (Cornerstone Community Church), Bob Rhyne (GraceLife Church), Charles Hofflander (retired), Spark Ball (Love INC), Mark Hufen & Sonja Dewey (Love-light Christian Counseling).

Devotion: Host Bruce Wilson spoke about our calling, based upon 1 Corinthians 3:8ff.

Treasurer’s Report: George Jones reported a balance of $561.91. Congregations were encouraged to make contributions to GWMA to help offset the absence of a Good Friday offering. $100 was received from Waukegan Foursquare Church, and gifts were sent to Love INC, CMA, and Wesley Church per last meeting’s motions. A thank-you note from Love INC was read to the group.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Minutes from April were approved as presented.

BUSINESS:

· WAUKEGAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS CRISIS TASK FORCE was presented by Spark Ball. Here is an opportunity to volunteer clergy services in the event of a crisis need at public schools. A volunteer form (attached, and posted on GWMA Web site, www.gwma.homestead.com ) may be faxed to Jennifer Leahy at 847-360-5654.

· AN APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP in GWMA was received joyfully from Bruce Wilson. Welcome, Bruce!

· FIRST TIME ATTENDERS Sonja Dewey and Mark Hufen from Love-light Christian Counseling in Zion were welcomed and spoke about their ministry, indicating a desire to affiliate with GWMA. Visit the Love-light Web site at www.love-light.org .

· RADIO STATION: the idea to operate a Christian radio station was further brainstormed. Juan suggested we could make a beginning by signing up for time on existing radio stations to share messages in rotation.

· A BILINGUAL CHRISTIAN BOOK STORE is operated by Juan’s son-in-law: Pacto con Cristo, 1502 Grand Ave, Waukegan. Church supplies are also available.

· TRANSGENDER, GAY & LESBIAN SCHOOL CLUBS were discussed. We noted with approval that Zion High School is promoting abstinence. For resources www.family.org and http://www.cdc.gov/std/healthcomm/ were recommended.

ANNUAL GWMA PICNIC will be held on Saturday, June 25, noon, on the lawns of Agape Christian Fellowship, 2045 Kellogg Ave., Waukegan. Burgers and Dogs will be provided. Please bring your own spouse, drink, lawn chair, and dish to pass.

NEXT MEETING: September 15, 2005, at Wesley Free Methodist Church, 3601 N. Lewis Ave., Waukegan. Prayer 7:30am, meeting 8:30am.
