Technical Services Student Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:

Student Assistants are expected to:

· Work primarily in the Technical Services office preparing materials for the library collection

· Process books and DVDs by adding labels, barcodes, date due slips, property stamp, book covers, and other specific library markings

· Distribute/sort Library mail

· Receive, process, shelve and organize daily magazines, newspapers, and journals

· Assist with other collection management projects at the direction of Technical Services staff.

Qualifications and Skills required

Student Assistants in Technical Services must be able to work independently in a quiet office. Work must be neat and accurate. Attention to detail is very important. An interest in the library and its functions is helpful. The position requires the ability to organize materials and recognize errors.
