AWARD CATEGORIES:

BEST MOVIE OVERALL: Voted by the audience on the night.

MOST RELEVANT TO THEME: Fishing means many different things to different people, we want your perspective on what fishing means to you. It could be that you’re a member of a local fishing club and your monthly meetings provide a great place to socialise. It might be quality time spent with your kids or partner, or the opportunity to have a laugh with a few good mates. Fishing can take us to the most beautiful, unique and remote parts of the planet. The movie which take us on a journey and best encapsulates what fishing means to you will be deemed the winner.

MOST MEMORABLE ACTION SEQUENCE: If you have captured amazing underwater footage of a shark swimming around the boat, or a large marlin jumping on the leader, then this is the category for you. The movie which showcases the most inspiring action sequences, demonstrating good timing rarely seen on film will be deemed the winner.

DEMONSTRATING ‘THE FISH TODAY FOR TOMORROW’ SUSTAINABLE FISHING PRACTICE MESSAGE: Sustainable fishing practices are essential in keeping our fish stocks healthy. This category is for those movies which demonstrate numerous sustainable fishing practices that ensure fishing activities will continue to thrive in years to come. You may include practices such as environmentally-friendly fishing tackle, release weights, catch care, size limits, catch and release etc. The movie that demonstrates the best use of sustainable fishing practices will be deemed the winner.

DEMONSTRATING FAMILY AND COMMUNITY FISHING INVOLVEMENT: Communities play a huge role in the recreational fishing sector, just as recreational fishing has the capacity to bring communities and family together. Many fishing clubs and their hosted events are made up of families and spirited community members. Community champions and volunteers help advocate the Fish Today for Tomorrow message and are worth their weight in gold. Movies that demonstrate the value of recreational fishing to local communities and families, and demonstrate the involvement of local communities and families irrespective of age, gender or ethnicity in recreational fishing will be deemed the winner.
