Fifth Grade QR Code Lesson
1. View online video about QR codes @ at Geeky Momma’s Blog - http://www.leekolbert.com/2011/09/qr-codes-in-education.html
2. Open MS Word
3. Ctrl/O and go to Public, 5th grade
4. Open Fifth Grade Current Events Template
5. Click File, Save As go to your H: drive (DO NOT CONTINUE WORKING UNTIL YOU SAVE IT IN YOUR FOLDER IN H:)
6. Minimize Word
7. Open Internet Explorer and navigate to kids Currents Events page
8. From the Current Events page go to TweenTribune and find an article you are interested in
9. Right-click and copy the URL (Internet address) of the article page
10. Click new tab to open a new Internet page
11. Go to Current Events page again, but this time click on QR Code Creator
12. In the QR Code creator URL box erase the “http://” and right-click to paste URL of the article into QR Code Creator
13. Click “Generate!”
14. The QR code will appear on the left
15. Click on the QR code to see it by itself
16. Right-click to copy the QR code image
17. Return to MS Word.
18. Delete the box that says “Your QR Code Goes Here”
19. Paste the image into the document in the appropriate spot. Click on the picture, click the “dog” and “tight” (the “dog trick”). Then move the picture into place
20. SAVE!
21. Return to the Internet where your article is and copy the picture that goes with the article
Go back to Word and delete the box that says “Your picture goes here!”
22. Paste the picture from the article in the appropriate place on the MS Word document
23. Do the “dog trick” and move the picture into place
24. SAVE!
25. Add the headline phrase from the article at the top of their document in the WordArt section
26. Type your name in the text box provided in the bottom right
27. SAVE!
28. Print on the ColorCube 8570 printer
