Exam Board & Registration Process

FAO: Cohort 2012 - All Disciplines

Dear All,

We hope your internship is going well for you. As you are progressing through the internship it is timely that you are notified of the exam board and registration process upon completion of your programme. I met with most students during the final PRT session and imparted most of the information but as promised, I’m communicating it via e-mail also.

Repeat placement arrangements:

All hours missed during the internship must be repaid. In partnership with the health services we will be reviewing absence rates in order to make the necessary arrangements for you to clear any time deficits at the end of the internship. Repeat placements are planned to meet the service need but generally occur immediately following placement. For most of you the aim will be to present you to the graduating exam board which is currently scheduled for 26/09/2016. If you are concerned about reaching this date or need to discuss your individual arrangements please do not hesitate to contact myself or Deirdre as soon as possible. Students who do not make the September exam board will be presented to the December exam board (pending successful completion of programme requirements) on 01/12/2016. Repeat placement arrangements details will be communicated to students via e-mail. All hours are to be documented on repeat placement attendance records.

Registration process on completion of your programme:

  • In order to be presented to the graduating exam board on Monday the 26/09/2016 you must have achieved all the requirements of your programme, academic, clinical and in the case of the BSc Midwifery students your EU requirements.
  • Students are not required to be present at the exam board
  • Following presentation to the graduating exam board you are eligible to apply for registration with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. The Allocations Office here in UL will make the necessary arrangements for you to collect your Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland forms which you will need to register.
  • You will NOT have your form on the 26/9/16 as we will need to organise to have it signed by the relevant Director of Nursing or Midwifery before you receive it. We anticipate having the forms before the end of the week of the 29th September for distribution to students. We will inform you by e-mail re the collection date at our earliest opportunity.
  • N.B.! You will need to collect your Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland form in person in order to sign it yourself and we will give you the necessary information to complete the registration process.

Submission of Competency Documents

Please ensure that you check your competency book carefully for signatures, dates etc. before handing them in. Also remember to remove the yellow copies of competencies for your own records. There is a drop box outside the Allocations Office to drop in books, no receipts necessary.

Graduation will take place on the week commencing Monday 16th January 2017 – students presented to September & December exam boards will graduate at this ceremony. All graduation arrangements are undertaken by student academic administration SAA, please do not contact the Allocations Office with queries re this matter.

We would ask you to please keep an eye on your UL emails for further information / notifications for the remainder of your internship.

Should you have any queries in relation to any of the above information please do not hesitate to contact myself or Deirdre.

Best of luck with the remainder of the internship.

Kind regards,

______
