Federal TEACH Grant Application

Based on my completion of this application and my signature below, I acknowledge the following:

- I have read the material on the SUNY Oswego Financial Aid Office website at www.oswego.edu/financial/TEACH_grant.html and/or attended a session the Financial Aid Office provided about the TEACH grant and wish to be considered for a Federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant.

- I understand there is a service requirement to the grant that requires teaching in a high-need field in schools serving low income families. I further understand that failure to complete the service requirement will cause the grant to be converted to a Federal Unsubsidized Stafford loan with interest accruing from the date the grant was initially received.

- I certify that as an entering freshman I had scored above the 75th percentile on my SAT or ACT.

I graduated from high school with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale or an 88 on a 100 scale. In this case, I know I will be required to maintain a 3.25 GPA each semester to continue to receive the TEACH grant.

If I am a current student and did not meet the criteria listed above at the time of entering college and I have completed at least one term of college, my cumulative GPA is at least 3.25. In this case, I know I will be required to maintain a 3.25 GPA each semester to continue to receive the TEACH grant.

- I also agree to sign the required contract with the United States Department of Education and attend the required counseling session before the funds will be disbursed.
