Europe and European Russia
Research Project
Students were put into pairs by the teacher. Students then drew numbers out of a box and the lowest number was able to choose which country they wanted to research. Once a country was chosen, no other group could choose that country.
Research was done on the CultureGrams website via district computers. This is a breakdown of each day of research:
Day 1: Tuesday
Geography: Explain the geographical features of your country. What major land forms and features exist? Where are they located? Why are they there? What is the vegetation like?
Day 2: Wednesday
History: Briefly explain (summarize) all of the major historical events in your country. Include interesting facts and famous people in the history. (Notice the “Famous People” section on the right side of your country’s home page).
Day 3 & 4: Thursday and Friday
Government/Economy: Describe 1) the government type, and 2) the structure of the government (ex: The USA has 3 branches of government in order to separate power). How does it compare to the Constitutional Democratic Republic that the United States has? Has the government system always been the way that it is now? Describe the Economy. Is it controlled by the government, businesses, the people, or a combination of those? How does their GDP compare to the USA? How does the GDP per capita compare?
