Meeting Minutes

March 10, 2013

The general meeting was called to order by President, George Potter.

The February minutes were approved and seconded by membership as written and published in the EEVAC monthly Newsletter.

Treasurer, Jerry Troxel reported 94.00 of expenditures for since last month’s meeting. He cancelled the order for the club jackets due to uncertainty on specific color being out of stock at this time. He returned all monies to those who had placed orders. He will reorder when Triangle Graphic has correct stock available.

New Business:

Note: There are six remaining EEVAC signs available for purchase. These are nice signs and you fill in the blanks with your car’s specifics.

Ann Dunn attended her first meeting tonight and was welcomed by club members.

A new member, Jim Bruns was introduced and welcomed by all. He has a 1979 Blazer.

Jim Dunn spoke regarding Silverton “Show & Shine”. If you are interested in going make sure you call Oregon Garden Resort to make your reservations. The rooms are going fast. Be sure to mention EEVAC when booking to get the special rate.

Jim Johnston gave specifics on where and when to meet for Daffodil Tour this coming Sat. McKenzie A’s will be touring with us. There will also be a tour to Pfeiffer Vineyards after Long Tom Grange event.

George reminds members of the Overnight Tour to Portland. Take in the Portland Swap Meet, dinner at the Red Lion Lloyd Center. 6:30, Sylvia has a block of room held so make reservations right away as it is a busy week-end especially due to the swap meet taking place. A tour to Howard Freeman’s to see his car collection, and he if providing a deli sandwich lunch for us. Then, on to Eagle Creek to see Bill Jabs’ car collection. We will tour back home on back roads. If you just want to come on Sunday, George will give you the address to Howard Freemans.

Verne Ivy passed around his photos from his recent vacation down south to Palm Spring, Death Valley and Las Vegas.

Jerry Troxel will send a copy of our insurance renewal to the Valley River Mall office.

Our club is invited to an event at Brooks Sat. March 23. Pot luck, wear period clothes and drive your vintage car. Call Brooks for more information

At recent event in So. CA, George received a distinguished award as Best Published Car Club Website. He also told about the High End Classic Car Show he recently attended. All cars were in the 96-100 point range with 100 being the highest possible score. Jay Leno was present for George to hob-nob with.

He also visited a museum in Oxnard full of European million dollar automobiles.

The Mayfield’s Wayfarer is on its way to Melbourne Australia to its new owner.

Gary Haslip purchased a 75 MG midget for parts. His friend will complete his Sunbeam Tiger’s restoration with Gary’s help in a couple weeks.

Contrary to his television persona, Ray Hanke met and talked with owner/star of Grave Yard Cars in Springfield and said he was a really nice guy.

“Get to Know” your EEVAC Members: Jerry Szerlip, born in Cleveland Ohio. Lived in Southern Calif. area and worked and learned the body-work trade and fabrication techniques, by the finest teachers of the trade. He met and married BJ. He was also a State Farm Auto Insurance Adjuster, Supervisor. They moved from So. CA to Junction City about 9 years ago after finding just the right piece of property for them. Jerry continues to be busy with his auto body business and is busier now than before retiring. Jerry expressed a great love for his car club friends.

Numerous club members have cars, etc. for sale. Check the want ads for specifics.

Carolyn Troxel won the 50/50 drawing.
