ELKHART BOOSTER CLUB SCHOLARSHIP
ATTENTION SENIORS
The Elkhart Booster Club provides the opportunity for the young men and women of the graduating Class to receive up to a $500 scholarship.
TO QUALIFY:
- You must be a senior at Elkhart High School with expectations of graduation at the close of the spring semester.
- You must have a Grade Point Average of 2.0 to qualify for the scholarship.
- You must have participated in at least one high school sponsored athletic program, for the entire season of that sport. (The selection committee may take verifiable injury or illness into consideration.
- You must be enrolled in an accredited institution of your choice and be considered a full-time student (12) hours of that institution for the fall semester following your graduation. Neither your field of study nor you plan to participate in any further athletic program will affect the selection.
- The Elkhart Booster Club encourages LEADERSHIP, SPORTSMANSHIP and CITIZENSHIP; these qualities will be evaluated on your application.
- The application period will end effective May 1.
THE AWARD:
The scholarship money will be forwarded to the school of your choice upon confirmation of your enrollment for the fall semester of your freshman year. You must be enrolled in at least 12 hours.
**In addition to the regular scholarship winners by points, there will also be at least one “Lottery” drawing worth $250.00.

SCHOLARSHIP
INSTRUCTIONS FOR EVALUATION
- The Booster Club will offer a maximum of six scholarships each year to graduating seniors of Elkhart High School. The applicant must have maintained a 2.0 grade point average to qualify for the scholarship.
- The point sheet for participation/letter is graded as 1 point for participation and 2 points for lettering in each activity.
- All League/Honorable Mention, All Region & All State is awarded 1 point for each qualifying sport.
- Grade point average is multiplied by 2 and that total is added to the total points earned for participation/lettering in all activities listed.
- The evaluation process regarding SPORTSMAN, CITIZENSHIP and LEADERSHIP will be completed by the Coaching Staff, Cheerleading Sponsor and any other participant deemed necessary by the Booster Club for provision of objective evaluation of these three qualities.
- The SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION COMMITTEE shall choose the recipients and present the awards at the annual Senior Awards night prior to graduation.
- The scholarship will be paid directly to the institution.

EVALUATION

Elkhart High School Coaching Staff, Cheerleading sponsor, shall complete evaluation and any other participants deemed necessary by the Elkhart Booster Club to provide objective evaluation of each candidate for the Booster Club Scholarship. Sportsmanship, Citizenship and Leadership as defined by Webster:
Sportsmanship: Conduct becoming to a sportsman; fairness, courteous relations, graceful acceptance of results.
Citizenship: The quality of one who in a positive manner leads, directs, tends toward a definite result, position at the front, margin or measure of advantage or superiority.
Student may score any number on each quality, i.e. high in leadership, low in sportsmanship, or vice versa, as each evaluator scores.
