The DDMI Community Champions Grant assists community based non-profit organizations to promote and focus on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness of youth through sport, arts, recreation or cultural activities.

The grant makes resources available to organizations that are fostering healthy living initiatives for youth in the community and providing a barrier free environment. Non-profit organizations should have a sustainable program to promote these initiatives.

A total of ten grants of $2000.00 each will be awarded annually, with two application periods per year.

Eligibility for DDMI Community Champions Grants

Eligible activities must:

·  Be delivered by an eligible community-based not-for-profit organization (youth sport/art teams/clubs or associations);

·  Be provided in a community in the Northwest Territories or West Kitikmeot;

·  Address a clearly identified wellness issue;

·  Have a clearly defined start and end date that occurs after the application date;

·  contribute to the organizations stated objective;

·  Be affordable, inclusive and accessible for participants; and

·  Demonstrate adequate regard for participants safety and wellbeing;

Ineligible activities include:

·  Retroactive requests

·  Travel & accommodation

·  Registration fees

·  Support for an individual

·  Activities which include gambling

·  In-kind items such as door prizes or giveaways unless associated with a DDMI funded program.

Application Period

·  Application periods will be announced in the spring and fall annually.

·  Applications will be accepted twice per year during these time frames.

·  Applications must be received prior to the start of the project/program.
