Dear North Springs Community-

Throughout the last 5 months, I have heard from many parents, teachers and students who have expressed concern about the uncertain leadership of our school and have shared their hopes with me about North Springs’ future. Tonight, I am so pleased that the Fulton County School Board has named Mr. Michael Scott Hanson as the new principal of North Springs Charter High School.

The Fulton County School Board selects and hires principals; this is not a role of the School Governance Council. I was, however, pleased to have an opportunity to participate in interviews of the final group of candidates. I, along with a panel of other parents, teachers, staff, students and school community members, was encouraged by the strong group of candidates who interviewed to lead our school. Most importantly, every single one of us was impressed by Mr. Hanson’s experience and by the ideas that he shared with us. Mr. Hanson clearly is passionate about teaching and about education and his experience with charter schools will help us achieve the goals that we have set in our strategic plan.

As we look ahead to welcoming Mr. Hanson in person, we must also extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Sherrod Willaford who has served as a thoughtful and committed substitute principal. Dr. Willaford, we thank you for your dedication and leadership during this transition. We have enjoyed getting to know you and wish you much success.

I believe that North Springs Charter High School can look forward to a bright future, and I thank each and every one of you for your contributions to our success.

All the best,

Mindy K. Binderman

Chair, North Springs School Governance Council
