Dear Business and/or Sports Fan,

This year the Athens High School softball team is trying to repeat its 5A State Title. The Lady Eagles had a very successful season last year in which they brought home their first fast pitch softball state championship. The team is excited about the upcoming season. The team is growing, and we now have almost double the players from last year. We are very excited to have a JV team this year, as well as our varsity team. However, this growth unfortunately includes more costs. One of our fundraisers this year is the 20/20 program. If you are not familiar with the program, it entails each player asking 20 friends, family, or businesses to donate $20 or more, if you would lik to help raise money for the season.

Our goal this year is to raise $15,000 for our team. This money will go to new uniforms, equipment, field maintenance, and cost of travel for our out of town tournaments. With such a successful season last year, it’s our goal to travel to the more competitive tournaments. This year, we plan to travel to Gulf Shores for a Spring Break tournament, as well as Chattanooga and Birmingham.

All donations for you or your business to the Athens High School softball program are tax deductable, and any contribution, even if it is less than $20 would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if you are a business and are looking for some good advertising, the Lady Eagles are selling signs to be placed around the outfield fence of the softball field. Costs of the signs are $350 the first year and $200 renewals each subsequent year, which are also tax deductible. For more specifics on the signs, you may contact me () and I will send you more information.

I would personally like to thank you for taking the time to read this letter and I hope you will consider helping not only me and my team but also helping support girl’s athletics.

I have placed a self-addressed stamped envelope in this letter for your convenience. Please make checks payable to Athens High School Softball. The deadline to turn in money is December 1, 2010. After all donations are received, I will turn in the checks and/or cash on that date, in which time I can provide you a receipt for tax purposes. Once again, thanks for supporting me and our program. GO LADY EAGLES!

Sincerely,

Whitney Jordan
