De La Salle Summer Hybrid Summer Survey Courses: Summer 2017
De La Salle will be offering credit recovery hybrid survey courses this summer for students who received a “D” or “F” in the following subjects and semesters:
· English II, Semester 1 and Semester 2
· English III, Semester 1 and Semester 2
· Algebra I, Semester 1 and Semester 2
· Algebra II, Semester 1 and Semester 2
· Geometry, Semester 1 and Semester 2
Students must sign up for the specific semester they are looking to remediate. These courses will run from June 12th - July 27th (6 weeks). Final grades will be issued the week of July 31st. Students must attend class sessions each week (specific information will be provided upon enrollment). This class time is mandatory for UC/NCAA approval and there are no exceptions. There will be no class time the week of July 3rd – July 7th (Holiday) Students should still work on course work during this week.
The price for this course will be $600 per semester enrollment ($1,200 full course). This includes access to Schoology, textbook, and class materials. Students interested in the course should contact Mr. Van Bomel at or (925)-288-8160. Space is limited and a payment of $300 is due at enrollment to reserve space. Full payment must be paid by June 12th.
There will be an orientation for all hybrid students (Date TBD).
Please note:
As a hybrid course, students will need to be self-disciplined and complete work online on their own during the week with the exception of the class periods each week. All students must be present for class time. Students should plan their summer and week accordingly to complete coursework. This class time is mandatory for UC/NCAA approval.
Example of Weekly Breakdown: (Specific course schedules and breakdowns will vary subject to subject and will be provided)
Monday: Students meet in class with teacher and are introduced to topic for that chapter. Unit available/open to students on Schoology. Students complete coursework/homework on Schoology.
Tuesday: Students complete coursework/homework on Schoology.
Wednesday: Students complete coursework/homework on Schoology.
Thursday: Students meet in class with teacher for assessments, DBA assignments, and other class work. Students complete coursework/homework on Schoology.
Friday: Students must have all coursework/homework completed on Schoology.
Late work will NOT be accepted.
Student Dress Code for Class Sessions:
Students must adhere to normal De La Salle dress code policies. Please refer to the student handbook for specific guidelines.
Materials Needed:
· Notebook and folder for class time.
· Students are strongly encouraged to use their own laptop. De La Salle will have a limited amount of laptops available during the summer and they are only available for on campus use.
· Textbook (Provided by DLS if needed)
Rules and Regulations:
Students will be expected to adhere to all De La Salle student policies while enrolled in the online course. Proper behavior and language is expected while interacting with the teacher and other students through the learning management system. While on campus for class time students are expected to adhere to the student behavior policies outlined in the student handbook. This extends to the proper respect and behavior toward De La Salle property (textbook, classroom, desks, chairs, etc.) and must follow the instructions of the teacher at all times while on campus. Students who are not adhering to proper behavioral guidelines will be removed from the program without a refund of tuition and will be given no credit for the course.
