Create a Soundtrack Assignment
The Outsiders
8th Grade English
DUE: Tuesday, January 27, 2015
For this unit assessment, we will create a soundtrack for our novel. I want you to look at characteristics of characters, specific scenes, and the theme, and find matching songs. There will be a scaffold process in class to work on this project, but you must dedicate time at home as well. Your final product will be an album including a cover design and a list of songs that connect to the novel.
You must find FIVE songs that match up to the following:
I. TWO specific characters from The Outsiders
II. TWO specific scenes from The Outsiders
III. ONE connection to the theme from The Outsiders
With each song, you must be able:
1. to explain what the examples and songs are (1-2 sentences)
2. discuss how they connect (3-5 sentences)
3. point to specific EVIDENCE from both to support your explanation (4-8 sentences)
Album cover must have:
· Creative album title
· Original cover design
· Complete list of songs on back with title and artist
· Colorful and vivid depictions
· Clean designs and clear writing
