Godspell September 8 – October 2, 2016
A Musical based upon the Gospel According to St. Matthew.

Music and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz; Conceived by John-Michael Tebelak.

One of the most successful musicals in history, GODSPELL presents a whimsical and ultimately inspiring view of Jesus, as His followers and disciples re-enact parables and scenes from the New Testament, energy, laughter and love. This rock musical was an immediate hit when it opened off-Broadway in the spring of 1971, before moving to its triumphal run on the Great White Way. Many songs from the show became popular hits, including Day by Day, All Good Gifts, Turn Back Oh Man, and All For the Best.

The Foreigner October 20 – November 13, 2016

Book by Larry Shue

In a fishing lodge in Georgia, "Froggy" LeSeuer (a British demolition expert of all things) has brought along a friend - a pathologically shy young man named Charlie who cannot bear the thought of making conversation with strangers! So "Froggy," tells all assembled that Charlie is from an exotic foreign country and speaks no English. Of course, Charlie overhears more than he should—the evil plans of a two-faced minister and his redneck associates; the fact that the minister's pretty fiancée is pregnant; and a litany of revelations made with the thought that Charlie doesn't understand a word being said! The hilarity builds to a wild climax where things go uproariously wrong for the "bad guys," and the "good guys" emerge triumphant!

The Nights Before Christmas December 1 - December 23, 2016

An original work by Tim Perrino. Lyrics by Tim Perrino, Music by Steve Goers

A glorious new musical for Christmastime! Filled with romance, heartbreak and mystery, The Nights Before Christmas reveals the dramatic life of Clement C. Moore and the writing of the poem that defined the joy of Christmas for the world, “A Visit from St. Nicholas”. Is it possible that such a serious, sour-faced, religious scholar could write a trifle about a jolly elf in a red suit? Did Moore really pen the whole poem on a sleigh ride on Christmas Eve?? Could the rumors that he is not the author be true? And if he is the author, what is the secret that prevents him from claiming it for his own?

It’s a love story that spans a lifetime, a literary mystery, a celebration of a Christmases long gone by – all wrapped up in beautiful songs like “Christmas Belongs to Her”, “Summers at Chelsea”, “Tonight, My Lullaby”, “Santa Claus is a Friend of Mine” and of course, an inspiring musical version of “T’was the Night Before Christmas”.

Doubt, A Parable January 19 – February 12, 2017

By John Patrick Shanley

In this brilliant and powerful drama, Sister Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects the young Father Flynn of improper relations with one of the male students. All the elements come invigoratingly together like clockwork in a gripping story of suspicion cast on a priest's behavior that is less about scandal than about fascinatingly nuanced questions of moral certainty. DOUBT is a lean, potent drama…passionate, exquisite, important and engrossing. Winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award.

Leading Ladies March 9 – April 2, 2017

By Ken Ludwig

A crazy-good comedy where two destitute Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, find themselves performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania! When they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to leave her fortune to her long lost English nephews, they impersonate her beloved relatives and scheme to get the cash. But when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren't nephews, but nieces! Undaunted, they dress up as the never-before-seen girls, promptly fall head-over-petticoat in love with the old lady's vivacious niece, Meg and her roller-skating friend Audrey. Throw a few more wacky characters and love-at-first-sight shenanigans and this comedy goes off the charts with laughter and love.

My Fair Lady April 27 – May 21, 2017

By Alan J. Lerner and Frederick Loewe

Based upon George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, the story of Eliza Doolittle, a cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from Professor Henry Higgins, showcases some of Broadway’s greatest songs, including, I Could Have Danced All Night, On the Street Where You Live, I’m Getting Married in the Morning, The Rain In Spain – just to name a few! Higgins takes credit for Eliza's success, but when she realizes that she no longer needs him, it breaks his pompous spirit and melts his heart as well. My Fair Lady promises to be a most “loverly” way to end the Covedale’s theatrical season!
