All Board meetings are generally held on the fourth Thursday of each month with exceptions. In July, there is no meeting scheduled.
Public notice of these meetings will be placed in the Burlington County Times and The Central Record. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. with an Executive Session that is closed to the public. The meeting will reconvene at 7:00 p.m. during which public input is permitted and encouraged. Meeting dates, times and locations are subject to change. Meetings are generally held at the Township Municipal Center.

The mission of the Robert B. Jaggard Elementary School is to create a safe and respectful environment in cooperative partnership with families and community members. We will empower students to develop the fundamental tools necessary to become critical thinkers and effective communicators. The above full day and half day schedules apply to Full Day Kindergarten, Grades 1-5, and Mrs. Chew-Acchione and Mrs. DeCotiis’s classes unless otherwise stated. Please note half day Kindergarten’s regular hours above as well.
SPECIAL NOTE TO HALF DAY KINDERGARTEN PARENTS:
For your planning purposes please note-
· During the 2013-2014 school year, PM Kindergarten will attend the AM session on November 27, 2013, March 14, 2014, June 18, 2014 and June 19, 2014.
· AM Kindergarten will attend PM Kindergarten sessions on all delayed opening days.
· Please note that November 4 & 6, 2013 and March 11 -13, 2014 are Parent/Teacher conference days and will be regular sessions for AM and PM Kindergarteners.
FOR SAFETY AND SUPERVISION REASONS, CHILDREN SHOULD NOT ARRIVE AT SCHOOL BEFORE 7:45 A.M.
SNOW CLOSINGS
When Evesham Township School District is closed due to inclement weather, our school closing number (657) will be broadcast over the radio station KYW (1060AM). Parents are asked to please listen for our number and not call the school. Local TV channels, as well as cable channel 19 (Lenape Regional cable channel) also posts our district’s closing due to inclement weather. Finally, the School Messenger system will be used to notify those families who have signed up for this service. If you have not done so already, we encourage families to sign up for this service by using the form sent home on the first day of school for Kindergarteners and new students. If, for some reason, a parent is confused as to whether or not the school will be open, that parent should call one of his/her child’s room parents. Room parents will NOT call the home of each child if school is canceled before our regular starting time.
EMERGENCY CLOSING
An “emergency closing” is defined as any school closing that occurs after school has begun, and the students are going to be sent home early. If there is an emergency closing, room parents will try to call every parent. NO child will be sent home unless a parent has been contacted. Parents will also be notified through the School Messenger system. However, it is still recommended that children be given instructions by their parents as to what they should do if they arrive home and find that no one is there. In many instances, children should be instructed to go to a neighbor’s house and wait, but, of course, this is a parental decision.
THE NUMBER FOR SNOW IS:
2 HOUR DELAYED OPENING
Two hour delayed openings have been scheduled throughout the school district’s calendar this year. Please make special notes of the dates. In addition to these scheduled delayed openings, the district may decide to open two hours late due to inclement weather conditions. Announcements will be made on the usual radio and TV stations under the district’s code number – 657 and on channel 19 when the delay is due to weather. Families will be notified through the School Messenger system as well.
If there is a two hour delayed opening of school, Jaggard students in grades 1 – 5, Mrs. DeCotiis, Mrs. Giroux’s and Ms. Chew-Acchione’s classes will start at 10:06 a.m. and end at the regular time of 2:30 p.m. Bus students will be picked up at the regular bus stop 2 hours later than the usual time. Lunch will be served though students are encouraged to bring a bag lunch. All after-school clubs will be cancelled on delayed opening days ONLY if the delay is due to inclement weather. ECC will open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m.
AM kindergarten students will attend the PM session (11:54 – 2:30) Busing will be provided. AM kindergarten students should report to their bus stop at the time they are normally being dropped off to return home on a regularly scheduled AM kindergarten day. For example, if your child arrives home at 11:00 a.m. each day, he/she will be picked up at 11:00 on a 2 hour delayed opening. PM kindergarten students should report to their bus stops at their regularly scheduled pick up time.
DRIVING STUDENTS TO AND FROM SCHOOL
In the event that you find it necessary to drive your child to and/or from school, the following procedures must be followed. In the morning, students are to be dropped off, by driving through the parking lot, at the side door entrance. Students may be dropped off in the circle only after all the buses have left (after 8:05). In the afternoon, parents are required to park on Wescott Road (outside of yellow lines) where their children will meet them. Cars are NOT to enter the circular driveway - THIS IS RESERVED FOR BUSES. A serious safety hazard exists when both cars and buses are in the circle.
SPECIAL WALKER DISMISSAL
As indicated by Board Policy #8601, Pupil Supervision After School Dismissal, any parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of a pupil attending a district-operated school or program in grades kindergarten through 5th, where the pupil is not eligible for district-provided transportation or is eligible and elects not to use district-provided transportation after dismissal may request the school or program not release the pupil to walk home after dismissal unless the pupil is released to the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) or escort(s) designated by the parent(s) or legal guardian(s). All parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must submit a completed Special School Dismissal Procedure Request Form to the Principal or designee. These forms will be found with student assignment letters distributed in August and should be returned on the first day of school.
WALKERS
Parents are requested to please remind students to practice proper safety procedures while walking to and from school. Walkers are NOT permitted to go home with a bus student.
***IMPORTANT*** All walkers, whether they are walking home or walking to an awaiting car, MUST cross Wescott Road at the Crossing Guard. Students should not be walking or running between parked cars.
DISCIPLINARY POLICY AND PROCEDURE
Students are expected to conduct themselves as responsible individuals on the way to and from school, during school hours and in all activities and programs supervised by the school, including field trips, after-school clubs and ECC.
Most students willingly cooperate with adults and exhibit maturity and self-control commensurate with their chronological development.
Occasionally, students violate classroom or school regulations. When this occurs the teacher has the right, responsibility and authority to discipline the child.
When a teacher has utilized all reasonable measures at his/her command without achieving the desired result regarding the child’s behavior, a referral to Mrs. Screnci, School Principal, may become necessary.
Students in possession of weapons, drugs, dangerous instruments and/or making threatening remarks to another student or a staff member will be disciplined as per district policies and student code of conduct.
Cell phones are not permitted for use during school hours, including ECC hours of operation. Cell phones must be turned off and left in book bags while the student is in the school building. If a student fails to comply with these rules, his/her cell phone will be kept in the office until after school hours. Parents must retrieve the phone from the school principal.
In regard to student expectations for behavior and appropriate consequences, please refer to the Student Code of Conduct Manual that will be sent home during the month of September.
ATTENDANCE/REPORTING ABSENCE
Students are expected to attend school daily. New Jersey State Law recognizes the following as a legal excuse for absences: student illness, serious family illness or death, a recognized religious holiday, student required attendance in court, necessary and unavoidable medical or dental appointments, and educational opportunities. The following rules for student attendance are in effect:
1. When a student is absent, a parent must call the school before the start of the school day to notify them of the absence. This procedure alerts the school and parents if a student is missing. Students who are missing will result in the parents being called, an emergency number being called, the district attendance officer being called and/or notification of the police.
2. When a student returns to school after an absence, he/she must bring to his/her teacher a statement written by his/her parent or guardian giving the date(s) of the absence and the reason for his/her absence. A physician’s certificate shall be required when the absence exceeds five (5) consecutive days or for a communicable disease.
3. Absences due to family vacations should be kept to a minimum. Missing days during the school year is very disruptive to the educational process. Students will be permitted to make up the missed assignments upon their return to school. However, it is not to be expected that work will be provided by the teacher prior to the vacation.
