2013 SCJ DeMolay Ritual Competition Fact Sheet

1. Schedule. The Judges’ Briefing will begin at 8:00 a.m. The Competitors’ Briefing will begin at 8:30 a.m. All Competitors must attend the Competitors’ Briefing.

2. Eligibility. SCJ Competition is open to all teams, made up of Members from one or more Chapters in a League. The team with the highest score at SCJ Competition wins the Contest. The League champion team from a single Chapter with the highest score at SCJ Competition above 750 in any Contest (900 in individual contests) will be certified for Championship level entry in that Contest for interstate competitions (which accept only teams from a single Chapter).

3. Contests. The Contests offered are:

As in past SCJ Competitions, this year SCJ will award Best Parts to Members in team contests: Chapter Proficiency—MC and Chaplain; DeMolay Degree—Orator, MI, JI, JD; Initiatory Degree—MC, Marshal, SD; Fourth Section—MC. SCJ is encouraging more Chapters, teams and Members to compete, and to improve ritual performance, by inviting teams to consist of Members from one or more Chapters in a League. SCJ offers four contests as another incentive for smaller teams to compete: Installation Service (6 parts), Majority Service (5 parts), Representative DeMolay Ceremony (2 parts) and Fourth Section (3 parts). DeMolays should compete for the experience.

4. Online Registration, Fees. Registration is available only on the SCJ website. Payment is available by PayPal or by check payable to SCJ DeMolay and mailed to the SCJ Office. Entry Fees are $25 per team for the first contest, and $10 for each additional contest. Registration closes on Friday, January 18, 2013.

5. Competition Information Online. Specifics in all contests, General Instructions, Judging Sheets for Open Contests, Entry Forms and a Competition Schedule will be posted on the SCJ website. Judging sheets for closed contests are available by email request to Dad Lebowsky.

6. Awards. Awards will be presented following the conclusion of all Contests. Judging Sheets are returned and Judges are available for questions following the presentation of awards.
