Background

The Clark (Mile-End) Bursary Fund is a charitable endowment which was established in 1868. It is now governed by Rules laid down in a 1974 Scheme (as varied with the consent of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator in 2013). The Fund typically receives up to 150 applications each year, and awards 3 to 6 grants. Grants are awarded at the discretion of the Governors of the Fund, and are given to applicants who show the highest levels of attainment in their studies and extracurricular activities, and in their promise for their future careers.

Eligibility

Applicants can either be (a) graduates of the University of Glasgow or Strathclyde studying for, or applying to study for, a subsequent degree at a university in the UK or abroad; or (b) graduates of any university in the UK or abroad studying for, or applying to study for, a subsequent degree at the University of Glasgow or Strathclyde.

Value of grants

Normally between £500 and £1,500

How to apply

Applications should be submitted by email to the Clerk on this form for consideration at the annual meeting of the Governors in November. The deadline for receipt of the 2016 applications is 1 October 2016. No applications received after that date will be considered. Interviews will be held in Glasgow at a Governors’ meeting during November. Applicants invited to interview will usually be notified within a week of the interviews whether their applications have been successful.
