CIH Level 2 Certificate in Housing Level 2 Level 2 Awarding Body Chartered Institute of Housing

Who is the course for?

Þ are new to housing issues

Þ would be interested in pursuing their careers in housing sector

Þ are already working in housing and would like to gain qualifications

Þ tenants and residents wishing to expand their knowledge and participation in housing issues

Duration 8 weeks (2 week of intensive classroom based) and 6 weeks work placement based training

Course Content

There are four units for the CIH Level 2 Certificate in Housing. They are all of equal weighting. You must pass all units in order to be awarded the qualification.

Unit 2C1: Housing Provision and Housing Organisations
This unit covers different types of housing provision, relationship between tenant and landlord, range of housing organisations operating in the UK, range of services offered by housing organisations how/why they offer them

Unit 2C2: Customer Care and Communication Skills for Housing
This unit deals with customer care, Equality and Diversity, Housing and Support for People with Different needs, Confidentiality, Communication Skills, Ways of Communicating, Non-verbal Communication, Personal Space, Barriers to Communication, Active Listening, Communicating in Groups, Assertiveness, Written Communication, Presentation Skills

Unit 2C3: Careers and Opportunities in Housing
In this unit learner will recognise a range of paid and voluntary opportunities in the housing sector, appreciate the skills and knowledge necessary for roles within the housing sector, develop an awareness of potential education, training and development opportunities within the housing sector

Unit 2C4: Developing Skills for Working in Housing
In this unit learner will understand some of the tasks to be carried out within a housing context, display skills necessary for working within a housing context, identify areas for further personal development

Location

The classroom training will delivered at Mansford College, Queensbridge Sports and Community Centre, 30 Holly Street, Hackney, London E8 3XW. The work placement will delivered where a learner is undertaking work placement.

Assessment

Units 2C1, 2C2 and 2C3 are locally assessed on assignments devised by Mansford College.
Unit 2C4 is locally assessed but externally moderated by Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) on assignments devised by CIH.
