Goal 2: Integrate ICT into the NZ Curriculum

·  Use a range of ICTs for creativity

Learning Area: English

Concept: Communication

Strand: Creating meaning for themselves or others (speaking, writing, presenting)

Making meaning of ideas or information they receive (listening, reading, viewing)

Context: In pairs create an One Page Wonder based on a Minibeast which includes interesting facts

Research Questions:

·  What tools and strategies will I use to help my students

·  Class Focus – Create a One Page Wonder

Show the children my example and then use the Interactive board for whole class lessons when showing the children different parts of the One Page Wonder

·  Children will use Power Point

Each pair will watch the steps then work through each step together taking turns, using the One Page Wonder Sheet, techies or me for help

Children will include all the success Criteria

Present their final creation in Assembly

·  How will I gather evidence to show increased opportunities for students to

o  I will photograph the success criteria

o  I will photograph my children throughout the process of creating their One Page Wonder

o  We will share our One Page Wonders with a wider audience

Goal 3: Strengthen professional learning communities and increase collaboration within and across schools.

Research Question:

·  How will I share the results of my action research with my school and cluster colleagues?

§  I am going to share my findings with the rest of the staff

§  When we met as a whole cluster, I will bring along a copy of my movie and some photos of my children working on it.

·  What happened as a result of my actions? (Based on the evidence I gathered)

§  All children enjoyed watching my One Page Wonder and really enjoyed making their own.

§  All children were on task and we frequently referred to the success criteria to ensure we were meeting it

§  Most children only needed to be shown each step once then went with it and the children enjoyed helping each other and using the sheets for guidance.

§  All children loved showing their one page wonder in Assembly

§  Children were quick to say what they had done well and what improvements they would make for next time

§  All children were happy with their achievements

§  The children were able to come up with some success criteria that they wanted to include

§  Some of the quotes from the children ‘We met all the success criteria’, ‘Our facts were interesting’, ‘We found this tricky but asked the techies for help’, ‘It was good to have something to look at when making our pages e.g. success criteria’, We knew when we were finished when we had all the success criteria’, we liked helping chose the success criteria’

·  What are my next steps for teaching and learning?

§  Continue to use success criteria within literacy, asking the children to help chose it with me

§  Each the children how to use a digital camera and load pictures onto the computer so they can create a masterpiece using their own images

§  Continue to keep the children excited about using ICT

§  Continue to upskill my techies
