Test one for all construction certification categories shall consist of questions relating to the business and financial management of a contracting firm. The content areas to be covered and the approximate percentage to be assigned to each area are as follows:
a) 15.0% Managing Cash Flow
b) 15.0% Estimating and Bidding Jobs
c) 7.5% Negotiating and Interpreting Contracts and Agreements
d) 5.0% Processing Purchase Orders
e) 5.0% Controlling Purchasing
f) 7.5% Scheduling for a Contract
g) 5.0% Controlling Costs of Fixed Assets
h) 10.0% Obtaining Insurance and Bonding
i) 10.0% Complying with Contracting Laws and Rules
j) 5.0% Managing Personnel
k) 5.0% Complying with Payroll (Federal, State) and Sales Taxes
l) 5.0% Interpreting Financial Statements and Reports
m) 5.0% OSHA Reporting and Posting Rules
The text books authorized by the Construction Industry License Board which are allowed for the test are the following:
a) Contractors Manual – 2009 Edition
b) Builders Guide to Accounting
c) AIA Documents – 2007 Edition
d) Occupational Safety and Hazard Act (OSHA) Manual – Chapters 1903, 1904 and 1910
The Test is an open book examination; however the student has to be able to locate within a short time the answers to the questions presented in the exam. This course is designed to teach the students how to navigate the reference books listed above and find the different topics which are outlined above, so that they may successfully pass the test.
The Score necessary to achieve a passing grade on all the construction certification examinations must be no less than a percentage of seventy (70%) out of one hundred percent (100%) on each of the required tests. All classes include instructor’s power point presentations for visually presenting the key concepts.

El primer examen para la certificación del estado consiste de preguntas relacionadas con el negocio y la administración financiera de una firma de contratista. Las áreas de contenido a cubrir y el porcentaje aproximado que se asigna a cada área es la siguiente:
a) 15.0% Administración del Flujo de Efectivo
b) 15.0% Estimados y Licitación de Proyectos
c) 7.5% Negociación e Interpretación de Contratos y Convenios
d) 5.0% Procesando Ordenes de Compras
e) 5.0% Administración y Control de las Compras
f) 7.5% Planear el Trabajo cubierto por el Contrato
g) 5.0% Control de Equipos y Enseres de la Compa?ía
h) 10.0% Como obtener Seguros y Bonos de Construcción
i) 10.0% Cumplimiento de las Leyes y reglamentos del Estado que afectan a los Contratistas
j) 5.0% Administración de la Empleomanía
k) 5.0% Cumplimiento de pagos de impuestos, (Federales y Estatales) y sobre las Ventas
l) 5.0% Como interpretar los diferentes Estados Financieros y Reportes derivados de los mismos
m) 5.0% Reportes, Notificaciones y Carteles de OSHA
Los libros autorizados por el Construction Industry Licensing Board y que se pueden utilizar durante el examen son los siguientes:

El examen es de libros abiertos; sin embargo el estudiante tiene que saber cómo localizar en un corto tiempo las respuestas a las preguntas presentadas. Este curso está dise?ado para ensenar a nuestros alumnos como navegar los libros de referencias que se mencionan en el párrafo anterior, para que puedan tener éxito y aprobar el examen.
La puntuación necesaria para aprobar todos los exámenes de construcción deben de ser no menos de setenta por ciento (70%) de un total de cien por ciento (100%) en cada unos de los exámenes para poder obtener la licencia. Todas las clases incluyen proyecciones (Power Point) de los puntos más importantes de cada uno de los temas, además de ejercicios.
