Job open to: / British Nationals, spouses and partners of diplomats (all nationalities) who are ‘W’ visa holders

II. JOB SPECIFICATION

Main purpose of job (max 200 words):
·  To check computer records to ensure complete accuracy prior to visa printing
·  Issuing official United Kingdom Visas
·  To liaise clearly and effectively with colleagues and management upon identifying any problems
·  To maintain the security of the Visa Writing office
·  To follow the correct procedures relating to the issuance/revocation/cancellation of UK and other territories visas
·  To support management with administrative work as required
·  To assist in other teams as necessary

To issue visas on a daily basis to ensure a quick and efficient service delivery / ·  To ensure correct core details and endorsements are reflected on the vignettes
·  To stick the vignette in the correct passport in accordance with current procedures
·  To keep accurate batch control sheets to be presented to the Duty ECM each day
·  To highlight any problems to the Manager as soon as possible
·  To ensure that spoilt vignettes are destroyed in accordance with local procedures and accurate records maintained
·  To emboss visas, ensuring they are accurate and completed with all visa applications / 95
To assist with other generalist functions when workloads require / ·  To assist training new colleagues when required
·  To assist ECO's and other colleagues with any visa related queries and correspondence
·  To assist team colleagues when backlogs arise
·  To complete ad-hoc duties when required / 5

Academic Education: Bachelors degree and above is preferred but not essential
Professional skills /Qualifications: N/A
Experience: An ability to demonstrate a good understanding of the work of the Visa Section and previous experience is desirable

IT Skills:
·  Good IT skills, knowledge of MS Office applications
·  A typing speed of at least 30 wpm

·  Ability to obtain satisfactory security clearance to Restricted (NB – Necessary security clearance for this position can take at least one month)

IV. General Conditions of this Job

We offer a competitive package, which includes basic salary, good leave entitlement and insurance plan etc. The gross abated starting salary for this position before all deductions is RMB 14,658. The successful candidate will be employed under locally employed staff conditions within the British Consulate. Conditioned working hours is 35 hours/week from Monday to Friday and flexible working can be arranged upon personal needs.
