BOSWELL HIGH SCHOOL

November 11, 2015

BOS Family,

First of all, Happy Veteran’s Day to the Veterans and Military families within the Boswell Community. Today, we honored our staff veterans through the Green Light a Vet Campaign and each received a green light bulb to change out with one in their home. Green signifies “hope, renewal and well- being” and if placed as a porch light may be seen to the outside world. The campaign points out “when veterans are out of their uniform, they’re more camouflaged than ever!” Please join us in thanking a veteran today for their service in the armed forces. Our Veterans include the following:

· Major Jeffrey Gross, EMS-ISD ROTC, retired U.S. Air Force

· Master Sergeant Walter Raemhild, EMS-ISD ROTC, U.S. Air Force

· Master Sergeant Jason Giles, Chemistry Teacher, retired U.S. Air Force

· Leticia Ward, Spanish Teacher/ Cheer Coach – U.S. Air Force

· Scott Piskorski, Special Education Teacher, retired U.S. Air Force

· Major David Blasingame, Geometry Teacher / Assistant Tennis Coach, U.S. Marine Corps

· Jimmy Harter, Algebra and Calculus Teacher, U.S. Marine Reserve

· Kurt Spasic, Algebra Teacher / Head Tennis Coach, U.S. Air Force and Army National Guard

In addition, this week has held many other exciting events, namely the Lady Pioneers finished the season as the District, Bi-District and Area Champions in Volleyball and the Pioneer Football team clinched the district championship title and will play this Saturday at 10:30 AM at Cowboy Stadium! We hope you will join us there to help cheer on the Pioneers! Please see additional information from the AT&T Stadium (Cowboy Stadium).

Finally, the end of this 6 weeks is Friday, November 13th. We have had a steady attendance rate of 95% for the last few weeks and hope to increase that in the final 6 weeks of the first semester. Thank you for your continued support! We have a few more exciting things that will take place at Boswell in the week prior to Thanksgiving Break:

· Basketball season launches into full force and both Boys and Girls will play at home on November 17th

· BHS will serve as a Salvation Army Angel Tree site and we have specifically requested “precious Angels”, the older kids (13-18) who are not commonly selected from Angel trees to support. These will be available for adoption to staff members, BHS clubs and organizations as well as our community! The tree will be located in our front office!

· We will conduct another random drawing from students with perfect attendance and award selected students with donated gift cards. We had almost 400 students the 1st 6 weeks with perfect attendance and we can’t wait to see what the 2nd 6 weeks holds.

As always, please see our website for further details on all these events and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter @boswellhs. We are approaching the 1550 mark for followers! Please continue to follow our website, Facebook and twitter posts for updated information. Again, thank you for all that you do!
