Biome Travel Brochure Project for ______

Objectives: Create a travel brochure for a biome

Describe how different environments support different varieties of organisms

Due Date: Friday, April 27, 2012

Directions: Using the reference materials provided to you by your teacher, follow the directions for making a Biomes Brochure/pamphlet. Be sure to follow the rubric provided so that you can do a self assessment prior to turning in your finished project. Remember to attach it to your final project. You will work individually or in pairs on this project. You will have at least one day to work in the computer lab. If you do not finish in class, it is homework, due on the date posted above. Think about what you are learning as you read about the biome. Materials will be provided to you in class. All brochures/pamphlets are to be computer-generated projects and should be in color. However, you may trace pictures and/or cut pictures out of magazines if you wish.

TASK: Create a travel brochure that promotes visiting one of the Earth’s biomes. A biome will be randomly selected for you due to the shortage of biome texts provided and to ensure that all biomes get covered. You must use accurate information about the biome and its conditions, but you may use humor and creativity to offer suggestions for overcoming the challenges of visiting the location. Have you ever read a brochure? Brochures are used to communicate information about specific topics in a brief, reader friendly format. The use of color, diagrams, and a pleasing layout of the information is used to catch and hold the reader’s attention.
