Breaking The Fast

Day 1 : Drink all of your regular juices, and add in 1 quart of green smoothie. I made my first green smoothie with 1⁄2 quart orange/pineapple juice, 1⁄2 banana, 1⁄2 pound blueberries, 1 mango, and 1⁄2 pound spinach, and 8 soaked prunes. Blend really well, chew really well

Day 2: Drink all of your regular juices, and 1-2 quarts of green smoothie.

Day 3: Drink some juice, some smoothies, and add in some whole, fresh, juicy fruits and berries.

Day 4: Same as Day 3.

Day 5: Drink some juice, some smoothies, eat some fruit, and add in some non-fat salads.

Day 6: Same as day 5.

Please break your Feast with a green smoothie using some soaked chia seed (which is a seed that is very high in omega 3 fats, and has very little fiber in it and so is OK for Fast Breaking in this case), leafy greens, some cinnamon or cardamom, and water.

Here are some Green Smoothie recipes from There Is A Cure For Diabetes by Dr. Cousins with David Rainoshek to get you started:

Basic Green Blender Full

3 bell peppers (red, orange, or yellow, or mixed)

1/2 to 1 avocado

3 cups greens (spinach, kale, collards, cilantro)

2 Tablespoons lemon juice

2 Tablespoons ginger juice

2 cups blessed water

Toss all ingredients into the blender and blend to a creamy consistency. Creates one full Vita-Mix. Serves 1-2.

Chia Smoothie

1 cup chia seeds

7-8 cups blessed water

optional: 1 cup ice

2-4 cups of any fresh green can be added to make a super chia green smoothie.

Optional ingredients: Add superfood nutrition with cinnamon, nutmeg, star anise, licorice root powder, mesquite, carob, stevia, superfood green powders, spirulina, chlorella, blue green algae, and/or maca.

Place seeds in blender, with any or all of the optional ingredients listed. Fill halfway with water, add ice, and blend to a creamy consistency. As machine is running, use the remaining water to top off container. Creates on full Vita-Mix of smoothie. Serves 1-2.

Green soups are also an appropriate Fast Breaking food. Here is a little bit about making green soups from a previous post I made about The Four Means To Get Your Greens:

SOUP: BLENDING GREENS AND GOODIES

A blended green soup made in a high speed blender has at its base a fat, such as sesame tahini, olives, avocado, or a salad dressing. Then you are adding in everything that you would have in a plant-sourced salad: leafy greens, cucumbers, celery, tomato, peppers, etc. Next we include sea vegetables such as dulse, arame, wakame, sea palm, and hijiki. Finally, spices such as whole garlic, whole ginger root, cayenne, Himalayan crystal salt or celtic sea salt, mustard, and fresh or dried herbs of your choice. Add about 1⁄2 cup of water to your blender full of nutrient dense green soup ingredients, and make your soup. As you eat it, know that the nutrient dense nutrition you are getting out of this one bowl of soup is immense. During the winter, you can gradually heat these soups by setting your stove on the lowest possible setting, stirring constantly, and measuring the heat of your pot until it reaches 105 degrees F. Pour and serve immediately. Eating greens this way, you will find yourself with about 1⁄2 lbs of greens in your bowl!

Here are some wonderful soup recipes from the Boutenko family to get you started:
