Step One:

· Understand how to find acceptable resources through the help of Mrs. Konjura in the Media Center.

· Begin researching five (5) sources.

· Document on “Green Source Sheets” provided

NOTE: For most research papers you will want to find when and where your person of choice was born. However, it is not necessary to report all of the details as it may become boring. Rather include their most important accomplishments, interests, and contributions into your paper. Make a note to find catalysts (something that makes a change or brings about an event) that helped them reach this goal. Also, watch for obstacles that nearly prevented your person of choice from reaching their goal. Also, look for different elements so that you can build your thesis points. Remember as you focus on the content to be aware of MLA format style to properly cite research MLA format.

Step Two:

· Organize your “Green Source Sheets” into categories: For example, introduction material, biographical information, person’s contributions, talents, etc.

Step Three:

· Write a Working Thesis

· Write an Outline

Step Four: Rough Draft

· Follow your outline and begin your first draft

· Maintain a working order of your “Green Source Sheets” so MLA becomes a simple task!

Step Five:

· Add an effective introduction

· Tie back to your introduction in the conclusion AFTER restating your thesis

Step Six: 2nd Draft

· Add transitions as necessary: see handout or site provided by teacher

· Edit your paper according to the pink sheet and 6+1 Rubric

· Make all necessary corrections/additions

Step Seven:

· Have two people—one adult—edit your paper.

· They must make at least one comment also and SIGN their names.

Step Eight:

· Check all MLA documentations in paper.

· Make sure you do not forget to cite. If in question, ask the teacher!

Step Eight: Final Draft with front page MLA style!

· Note: some of you will have more drafts! I sometimes have five or more depending on the size of the paper.

· Final Draft

Step Nine:

· MLA Works Cited Page

· Staple

· Recheck

· Turn in!
