Brand image, effective marketing strategies, and packaging standards have never been more important. One winery will get a complimentary makeover. The old and the new packaging will be consumer tested by Insignia Marketing Research Inc., a highly regarded Canadian research firm. Coast Mountain Glass will discuss trends and showcase the latest bottle styles. The results will be unveiled at this workshop along with a helpful step-by-step guide for those who's brand DNA could use a brush up. 15:30 Have You Developed Your Good Winery Practices Yet? (Room 5)
Even though wine has historically been safe, consumers want added assurance, along with reduced risks! Now is not the time to be complacent with respect to controls that enhance better wine-making practices. The Canadian Vintners Assocation’s voluntary initiative is a pro-active step to help Canadian wineries to position themselves for the future, with increased traceability to reduce potential liability, and open market access

A) Financing for Competitive Advantage: Three little known low-cost sources of working capital for your Winery and Vineyard (Room 5)
This workshop is essential for all winemakers and vineyard managers seeking to improve winemaking and vineyard practices or try new things. Many of BC’s wineries are still loss making. So every dollar is important to them. And yet they are unaware of a significant source of income – refunds for product development and practice improvement. Most wineries and vineyards can receive annual refunds of 68% of salaries and 41% of contract expenses. Find out what viticulture and enology activities qualify for refund (with examples of work that has already received a refund); how much you can you get; how to access the refunds (do it yourself or get help) and little known government funding programs as well as low cost working capital finance available to wineries.
