Instructions

Use either of the 2 downloadable files (Access database or Excel spreadsheet) to enter your team. Save the file to your pc first, then open the saved copy and enter your team on that.

Entries which arrive in my mailbox before the first game kicks off on Friday 11th August will start scoring points immediately. However, entries will be accepted up until 5pm on Friday 25th August, but you will not score points from games that have already been played.

The entry fee for the competition is £5. This money will be collected AT THE START OF THE SEASON. Prize money will depend on the number of participants, (there were prizes for the top 6 in 2016/17, with first prize of £100). There is also a Manager of the Month award where the top scoring manager for each month will win £10.

The Chief Executive’s decision is final in all matters relating to Fantasy Football.

Scoring explained

The following rules apply for all Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and Europa League matches (excluding European Qualifying matches prior to August 18th 2015)

  1. 5 points are awarded for a goal scored. A player scoring three or more goals per game gets 5 additional bonus points. Own goals do not count.

2.  5 points each for the keeper and each defender who does not concede any goals in a match.

One goal conceded : the keeper or defender scores 0.

Two goals conceded : the keeper or defender scores -1.

Three goals conceded : the keeper or defender scores -2, and so on.

3.  Any player who provides an assist for a goal scores 2 points.

4.  A goalkeeper who saves a penalty scores 3 points. A ‘save' is defined as a goal not being scored directly from the penalty spot (e.g. if the ball rebounds off a post then that is a 'save'). Penalty save points are awarded even if a goal is scored subsequently (e.g. from open play after the ball has rebounded off a post).

5.  Any player who has a penalty saved scores -3 points. A ‘save’ is as defined in number 4 above.

  1. Any player not picked , for whatever reason, scores 0.

7.  A player booked scores -1 points. A player sent off scores -3 points in total. Any player that loses points for a booking or sending off will not have those points reinstated if the offence is rescinded on appeal.

8.  3 points are awarded to a player given a mark of seven or more in The Sun newspaper’s individual Player Ratings carried with every match report. A five-point bonus is awarded to The Sun’s Star Man, giving him a total of eight points.

9.  Any player who comes on as a substitute at any time scores or loses points as if he had played the whole match. Players subbed off also score or lose points in normal fashion regardless of how long they were on the pitch.

10.  The rules remain the same for games involving extra-time. A match that is 0-0 after 90 minutes/injury time must be 0-0 after extra-time for keepers, defenders and midfielders to keep clean sheets. Penalty shootouts do not count. Replays are counted as separate games.

11.  There will be 4 Transfer Windows, in September, November, January and March. During each transfer window you will be able to swap up to 3 players for new ones, but you must remain within your £50m budget. You will keep the points from any players you transfer OUT of your team but you will not get any points that they score after you have transferred them out. Players transferred IN to your team will only start scoring points for you AFTER the transfer window has closed. You will NOT get any points the player has already scored.

12.  If one of your players is transferred from one Premier League club to another he continues to score points. Any player transferred out of the Premier League has his score frozen.

13.  All points, unless officially amended on the day of the game, will not be changed retrospectively. If a striker scores a goal that is subsequently changed or a player receives a red card that is amended on appeal then the original points will stand.
