BPW is expanding its competences in the area of truck and trailer electronics
First complete telematics solution for the commercial vehicle industry
Wiehl, 2013/12/12 --- BPW Bergische Achsen Kommanditgesellschaft, a globally active supplier to the commercial vehicle industry whose product spectrum includes telematics applications for fleet management in particular for trailers in addition to axles and brakes, acquired Funkwerk eurotelematik GmbH, a subsidiary of Funkwerk AG. The company based in Ulm is a globally active systems and software house specialising in the development and operation of technologically advanced telematics systems for trucks. The acquisition is subject to the usual conditions. BPW and Funkwerk AG expect that all conditions will be met by the end of February 2014 at the latest and that the consortium banks of Funkwerk AG will give their approval.
With the acquisition of Funkwerk eurotelematik GmbH and its attractive and competitive performance spectrum, BPW is expanding its existing range of high-performance and scalable electronics solutions for the commercial vehicle sector, which the company markets in collaboration with its Munich subsidiary idem GmbH. With the grouping of the Funkwerk eurotelematik tractor unit data with the idem GmbH trailer information, the vehicle operators will have the first telematics system available that covers the entire tractor-trailer as a complete telematics solution. Bringing together the data from both truck and trailer within the system allows the data to be processed in one application in a clear and practical manner.
