The 39th annual “Plymouth Show”, sponsored by the West Suburban Stamp Club, will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27, 2008. The show will be held at the Central Middle School, 650 Church St., at Church and Main in downtown Plymouth, Michigan. Show hours are 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. Admission and parking are free. With more than 2800 exhibit pages on display, the exhibition is the largest stamp show in Michigan. The “Plymouth Show” is also a qualifying national show in the American Philatelic Society (APS) “World Series of Philately” show circuit. The Grand Award winner will be eligible to compete in the August 14–17 Champion of Champion exhibition at StampShow 2008 in Hartford Connecticut against winners from the 30 other national shows. A 40-dealer bourse will offer stamps, covers and supplies for both new and experienced collectors. The dealers themselves come from nine states and Canada. Again this year, the club will hold “Stamps in Your Closet” sessions on Sat. and Sun. afternoons. Experienced collectors and dealers will help identify and provide guidance on a collection’s worth. On Saturday the show will host a Cachet Maker's bourse.
The United States, United Nations, and Nordica Postal Administrations will be on-site during show hours to sell their current stamp and postal stationary issues. The young collector is always welcome. The show junior program will offer stamp related games and free stamps for each youthful collector. Several stamp collecting societies will participate in this year’s show. The show will host the annual meeting of the Peninsular State Philatelic Society, and regional meetings of the Plate Number Coil Collectors Club, APS Town Meeting and American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors. Plymouth, MI is easily reached from all directions by automobile, as it lies at the intersection of I-96, I-275 and M-14.
