EXPERIENCE

Experience of supporting young people disabilities in an education/employment setting. / ESSENTIAL
Experience of supporting parents and understanding their barriers to work. / DESIRABLE
Carrying out assessments of the needs of individuals with learning disability and creating action plans and goal setting. / ESSENTIAL
Supporting people with a learning disability in looking for and gaining employment. To include job hunting techniques, career planning, CV writing and interview/workplace presentation skills. / ESSENTIAL
Employer engagement to raise awareness of the employability of people disabilities and to source work placements and job opportunities. / ESSENTIAL
Working to and meeting targets – such as caseload, job outcomes and number of employers engaged. / ESSENTIAL

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Critical information-gathering and the ability to analyse and relate individual potential to required job skills. / ESSENTIAL
Effective interpersonal style which enables the post-holder to work effectively in a team and support and encourage others. / ESSENTIAL
Ability to prioritise and to work independently. / ESSENTIAL
Excellent negotiation skills to liaise with students/staff and employers, ability to chair meetings, negotiate reasonable adjustments. / ESSENTIAL
High level of communication and presentation skills to carry out training with employers and encourage them to redesign their recruitment and employment processes. / ESSENTIAL
Initiative, drive and enthusiasm to respond to the unexpected, deal with difficult situations and seek alternative ways to achieve results. / ESSENTIAL
Proficient ICT skills – ability to use Microsoft Excel and data information systems. / DESIRABLE

KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING

A thorough understanding of the support needs of vulnerable individuals in relation to gaining employment. / ESSENTIAL
