Dear Artists,
Thank you for your interest in JTLDC First Choreographers Showcase! We are very excited to be holding our First Choreographers Showcase at the amazing Alvin Ailey Dance Studio located at 405 West 55th Street in New York City. This is a terrific space -- 34' x60' studio 5B. The showcase will be held on March 26, 2011 starting at 8:00PM. Doors open at 7:30PM. We are searching for emerging choreographers who have their own group/company who would like to show their work. The following letter outlines the most important information you should take into consideration when submitting your application. *PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING THOROUGHLY!*
Time Limit
Up to 15 minutes per piece submitted (you must strictly adhere to this maximum)
Works Submitted
Up to four works may be submitted. Separate application form (Pg. 2) per work.
Technical Understanding
1. Since this is a studio showing please understand there is no lighting. This is a raw space. If you would like to rent out the studio you can visit http://www.alvinailey.org/about/space-rental.
2. Music: Each choreographer is allowed two music cues. You will need to e-mail the music and it must be in a MP3 format. NO CD’S.
3. Do you have any props, sets, special needs etc? We must be informed of any objects, small or large, that will be placed on the stage. Hard soled shoes, glass, incendiaries, food, or liquid are not permitted on the Alvin Ailey Studios; ballet/jazz shoes will be permitted.
REGARDING FEES
· $20.00 application fee per piece submitted. (Non-refundable)
· $150.00 Cancelation Fee (This check will not be cashed unless you cancel after deciding to be in the showcase. Please understand that this is crucial. Please make sure you can do March 26, 2011. The check will be given back to you the day of the show. If your piece(s) is not selected you have a choice of either, the check will be shredded or mail back to you.)

Liability Waiver:
The renter agrees that Alvin Alley Studios and. JT Lotus Dance Company are hereby indemnified and held harmless from and against any and all injury or damage or loss of any theatrical properties or materials owned, rented or brought into Alvin Ailey Studio by the participant or any other persons performing with or assisting the participant. Neither the participant nor any other persons performing with or assisting the participant shall look to the Alvin Ailey Studio or JT Lotus Dance Company for reimbursement in the event that any such loss or damage should occur to these properties or materials while on the premises of Alvin Ailey Studio. Neither the participant nor any other persons performing with or assisting the participant will proceed against the Alvin Ailey Studios, or JT Lotus Dance Company (1) in any attempt to reclaim property value for any such loss or damage, including any such loss or damage due to fire, or (2) with a claim relating to an injury to the person of the participant, any other persons performing with or assisting the participant, or any member of the audience.
The applicant by their signature acknowledges that they have read and understand the above liability waiver and JT Lotus Dance Company and Regulations, and in so signing below, signify their agreement to be bound by those terms.
